Coming Home Meditation
A meditative practice to love your feminine body. Feel grounded and more capable to care for your body and mind with deep, everlasting love.
Transcript
So bring yourself into a seated position.
You might choose to use a cushion or a chair.
Whatever makes your body feel at ease and comfortable,
Yet avoiding a body posture that would leave you feeling sleepy or drowsy.
So our meditation today is about accepting the feminine body.
And it's really a practice to come into our body and to stop fixing and begin the healing process.
It's about moving from a place of deep love,
Admiring the beauty of the body.
A place of deep love,
Admiration and appreciation for every activity,
Every function that our bodies have enabled us to do through our lifetime.
And ideally moving forward into the future.
So you do not need to love your body in order to have a wonderful life.
But it sure does make our life experience better if we appreciate and are even able to acknowledge the vehicle that we've chosen to enter through life with.
When we have a deep undying love for our physical body,
We are more readily able to treat it better.
Give it the exercise it craves,
The healthy food it craves.
So as you're ready,
Bring your attention to your feet.
You might wiggle your toes or you might just let your feet stay silent and unmoving.
Just for the next few moments,
Observe sensations that you can feel in your feet.
Is it possible to feel a breath of air?
Maybe you can feel the ground beneath the soles of your feet.
You might be able to feel the texture of your feet.
You might be able to feel the texture of your clothing.
Maybe the sensations of the shoes you're wearing.
There is take maybe 30 seconds here,
Observing and opening to all of the sensations your feet have to tell you.
And then finding gratitude for your feet,
For keeping you grounded and carrying you through your life's journey.
Thankful for every mountaintop experience your feet have walked you through.
And find gratitude for every valley,
Every obstacle,
Every challenge your feet have helped you walk through.
And then moving awareness up into your legs,
Observing your shin bones,
Your thigh bones,
The muscles and tissue that surround the bones.
Observing without judgment.
So often it's so easy to move right into,
You know,
I should be doing more squats for all this weight or I should be lifting more doing this or doing that to shape my body in a different way.
So let it go of the judgment and just observe sensations.
So what is the sensation?
Is there a sensation of tightness,
Of constriction?
Do you feel a pushing or pulling?
Do you feel a spaciousness or a sense of strength?
Do you feel a spaciousness or a sense of strength in the leg muscles?
So for the next 30 seconds,
Again,
Opening awareness to any physical sensations that appear in the legs.
And then finding a deep gratitude for your legs,
For holding you up and strengthening you through your life experiences.
Finding gratitude for every time you've stood up for yourself at work,
At school,
With loved ones,
The times that you've stood up for your friends and your loved ones.
And then taking awareness into your arms from the shoulders to the elbows to the wrists.
And once again,
For the next 30 seconds,
Observing sensations,
Physical sensations,
Maybe texture,
Maybe movement of the air.
Maybe you can actually feel the bones that make up your elbow joint.
And then finding a deep gratitude for your legs,
For holding you up and strengthening you through your life experiences.
And then finding a deep gratitude for your legs,
For holding you up and strengthening you through your life experiences.
And finding gratitude for your arms,
For their ability,
Their strength to draw that which you desire towards you,
To draw your friends and your family,
Your daughters,
Your mothers,
Your sons,
Thank your arms for having the strength to hug people.
And thank your arms for the strength and the ability to protect yourself and the ones you love.
And then without moving,
Notice sensations that appear in your hands,
In the palms of your hands.
You might notice a tingling,
An energy of awareness.
Find gratitude for these hands,
For the ability to work,
For the ability to hold the hands of the people you love.
And then choose a body part of your own.
You might choose your belly,
Your shoulders,
Your arms,
Your shoulders,
Your arms,
Your shoulders,
And then choose a body part of your own.
Choose something that is easy to appreciate,
Maybe your ears or your nose.
Or choose something that's more challenging to appreciate.
Maybe it's your low back if there's pain,
Maybe it's your spine if you have scoliosis.
So choose a body part of your own.
And for the next minute,
Using this same template,
Pausing to reflect on the physical sensations that are appearing there today.
And then a second pause to appreciate the function that this part of your body has provided.
So take about a minute choosing a body part of your own.
And when you're ready,
Bringing awareness to all of the cells of your body,
All 37 trillion cells in your body,
And each cell,
All those cells are like your very own servants.
37 trillion servants living inside you,
Desiring to do only what you create,
Only what you want them to do.
37 trillion servants dedicated to your health and well-being.
Trying and doing their very best to keep you strong and healthy so that you can thrive through your life experiences.
So find gratitude for your digestive system,
The cells of your heart,
The cells of your lungs,
The cells that make up your colon and your liver and your bladder.
You might think in very generic terms,
Just,
You know,
Thank you cells.
You might think very specifically,
Thank you for my spleen.
Thank you for the function of digestion.
And if you do have health challenges,
For example,
Digestion challenges or a heart condition,
Find a little extra gratitude for those cells who are working in a less than imperfect environment.
We all know what it's like to do our best in a healthy environment.
So thank those cells for the obstacles that they face on a daily basis.
Bring a hand to your heart.
Take a few breaths here,
Breathing in and relaxing the exhalation.
Thank your body for being beautiful and then bring both palms together and let go.
Thank your body for being beautiful and then bring both palms to touch in a prayer position,
Letting your thumbs rest on your sternum.
And allowing my words to be your words,
I am beautiful within and without.
My body is beautiful.
I love and accept the way I look.
Everything is beautiful.
I am beautiful.
I love and accept the way I look.
Everything that is created in the universe is beautiful.
I am part of this universe.
The magnificent,
Magnificent,
Beautiful universe.
And I can be nothing but beautiful myself.
I am within my body.
I am inside my body,
Fully inhabiting my body,
Every cell.
And then bowing together,
Namaste.
