Mantra are sacred syllables scientifically created by the ancient masters to produce sounds with specific vibrations that resonate throughout the body and mind. Each mantra has a unique frequency used to tune the body by how individual syllables are intoned. Each mantra serves a different purpose in meditation. The "Aum" mantra design intends to tune the human body, mind and focus into the frequency vibration of Spirit, or God. Mantra may be used to accomplish many different goals in life. Today's meditation is a mantra meditation.

Within yoga,

Mantras are based upon sounds that reflect the energy of our divine nature.

A mantra is a tool for reflection and the cultivation of awareness and it is used for both concentration and contemplation on the source.

I invite you to take a comfortable seated position.

You can have your palms resting on your upper thighs or you can have the backs of the hands resting on your thighs.

Choose whichever one feels natural for you.

Close your eyes and now scan your body,

Relaxing away any tension.

Allow your inner gaze to float to your third eye.

Connect with your breath and now I invite you to choose your mantra.

This can be Aum or Sohum,

Love,

Peace,

Anything that inspires you.

So take the next five breath cycles and allow your mantra to be revealed to you.

And now begin to repeat your mantra silently to yourself.

Refrain from moving your lips or tongue,

Just repeat it inward.

Allow the repetition of your mantra to be relaxed.

Allow your mantra to focus your attention.

Be gentle with yourself if your mind wanders.

That's just a part of human nature.

Just return your attention again to your mantra.

If it's helpful you can use your fingers to count the repetition of your mantra or mala beads.

Allow the repetition of your mantra to be effortless.

As you stay true to your mantra and the integrity of this yoga asana,

Your seated meditation posture,

Relax away any tension in the face,

Shoulder,

Become completely absorbed by the mantra.

Observe the internal sound,

This inner vibration.

Allow yourself to drop in.

Continue to stay true to your mantra and to the integrity of the seated pose.

So with your next inhale,

Lengthen,

Elongate the spine.

Relax your shoulders down your back.

Return your inner gaze to your third eye.

Allow your breath to move through you freely with ease.

Continue to repeat your mantra.

And now keeping your eyes closed,

Release the mantra.

Just simply witness your body being breathed.

And spend a few moments just relaxing into this awareness.

Namaste.
