Greetings and welcome to the Why Struggle Podcast.
I'm your host,
Barbara J.
Faison,
And my intention with this podcast is to offer ideas,
Insights,
And inspirations so you can live life better.
Greetings and welcome to 2024,
Week 38,
Gratitude Practice.
I feel so grateful to be alive at this particular time.
In my lifetime,
I've been able to experience not having cell phones or faxes,
As well as not having GPS systems.
I'm extremely grateful that these are now a part of our daily lives.
However,
I do feel that living in a time before all these modern conveniences were available allows me to step away easier than people who may not have had the experience of living without these tools.
I'm also grateful that science continues to confirm things like the importance of gratitude in our daily lives.
Here are a few benefits of having a regular gratitude practice.
1.
Gratitude unshackles us from toxic emotions,
And we tend to use less negative language.
2.
Gratitude helps even if you don't share it.
Try writing a letter to someone,
And you don't even need to share it.
You will benefit just from writing your thoughts down.
3.
Gratitude takes time,
So write down what you're grateful for regularly.
It'll help.
4.
Gratitude has lasting effects on the brain and decision-making,
So that's reason enough to try practicing gratitude.
Walking in the mornings before it gets hot has been a practice of mine for decades.
I hope you enjoyed this track called 4-Minute Gratitude Walk.
Note,
I'm out walking so you'll hear the sounds of cars and all of life around.
Greetings,
It's Barbara J.
Faison,
Your meditation ambassador.
I'm out on a morning walk,
And I just want to take a few moments to express some gratitude,
So feel free to listen and do your gratitude expression right along with me.
I am grateful for this beautiful day.
I'm grateful for having a husband who is kind and loving and supportive.
I'm grateful for having a warm home that supports our needs and desires and keeps us cool when we need to be cool.
I'm grateful for the sounds of nature that are all around me today.
I am grateful for having woken up this morning and being able to move and walk.
I'm grateful for being able to see with the vision I have for my life,
Knowing that as I continue to move forward in a forward direction,
Things come as they are divinely assigned and appointed.
I'm grateful to be able to smell all of the different fragrances and odors and scents in the air.
I give thanks for the ability to move and to feel and touch and to allow my heart to be open and to be touched by the things I see and experience.
I'm grateful for all of my feelings,
Even the ones I may not enjoy.
I give thanks for having all of the feelings and sensations in my body.
I give thanks for this new day,
Knowing that every moment is filled with just right opportunities for me in whatever situation I create this day.
So,
I'm going to be quiet and allow you to just be and breathe,
And if you want to continue on with your gratitude,
Feel free,
And then I'll close out the practice.
Morning.
Morning.
So,
As we bring this gratitude walking meditation to a close,
I invite you to continue noticing and verbally expressing your gratitude this day.
In all things,
Give thanks.
I thank you for your practice and your presence.
Be well.
