Hi,
It's Barbara.
I'm a certified health and life coach And when I first started my health and life coach training at the Health Coach Institute,
I vividly remember one of their early exercises We were asked if There was a magic wand What would you really want for yourself and your wellness in the next 90 days?
And It was a powerful question,
But more importantly I realized it was a question.
I I never thought to ask myself a Specific question to set a goal within a specific time frame And I think the key here that is that a goal is more than a wish.
It's more defined than a dream So what if I pose that question to you?
Do you have an answer?
What do you really want for your wellness in the next 90 days?
And There's a bit of a guideline here You may be in the habit of Thinking about what you don't want You may be crystal clear on what you don't want to happen what you don't want to look like what you don't want to feel Like maybe what you don't want to continue but I really invite you to turn this around and Think about what you do want.
I Have a quote from an article I found on mindtools.
Com and the article is talking about the visualization that many elite athletes do before they compete and It says Well-trained athletes know that they should never visualize mistakes Especially right before a competition.
Why?
Because picturing or visualizing mistakes imagining poor performance Increases the likelihood that the athletes will actually do those things during the event even when they don't mean to Instead most top athletes are trained to visualize their goals right before a competition They see themselves winning the game Running the fastest race or scoring the winning point They're trained to picture what they want to happen instead of what they don't want to happen And when they do this their chances for success increase dramatically So let's take a moment to answer that question for yourself picture in your mind What do you want for your wellness in the next 90 days And let's have some fun with it Imagine you're looking in the mirror the 90 days have gone by you've reached this goal Imagine your reflection looking back at you What's the expression on your face?
How are you feeling?
What do you look like?
Now I invite you to go even further What will having this outcome do for you in your life and think about it?
Why is this important?
Maybe there are some other things that will unfold if you achieve this goal.
Oh And I love this particular question.
What would be the best part?
Give yourself a minute to think about what would be the best part?
Because hopefully even just by listening to this I hope you're experiencing how important and motivating goal-setting can be a woman named Leslie Riopelle wrote an article called the importance benefits and value of goal-setting for positive psychology today calm and She says it so well when she says in the end you can't manage what you don't measure and You can't improve upon something that you don't properly manage Thanks so much for tuning in
