Welcome to this short meditation to welcome the new year.

In this meditation we are going to ground ourselves and we are going to bring in some intentions and affirmations to help us kick start this year.

So before we begin I would like to invite you to find a dignified and comfortable posture.

Ideally sitting down on a cushion or on a chair.

But you can of course also be lying down.

Remember comfort is everything.

And so as you find a comfortable position for yourself take a moment to ease into your posture.

To find strength,

Balance and to overall move into that posture that is comfortable.

Really focusing on what feels right to you right now.

And if you feel any discomfort at any point just remember that you can always move a little,

Find a more suitable posture for yourself.

And so as you find this posture for this start of the year sitting.

I would like to invite you to gently close your eyes.

And begin by centering yourself through first few calibrating breaths.

Taking a deep breath in through your nose.

And deep breath out through your mouth.

And again deep breath in through your nose bringing awareness to the qualities of the breath.

How it may feel in your nostrils,

In your chest.

And a deep breath out.

Getting all of that air out before we begin again.

The last calibrating breath.

Imagine that as you breathe in the air that fills your lungs,

Fills your body,

Helps you to straighten your posture.

Allows you to lift your head,

Your chin a little bit higher.

Straightening your neck.

While at the same time lowering your shoulders for tension release.

And so as you're now sitting in this more grounded,

More anchored way,

You can begin bringing our awareness to this present moment,

To this start of this year.

And bring awareness to a few intentions.

What intention do you want to bring with you into this year?

Which feelings,

Which sentiments?

Try to visualize it.

Visualize the energy that you want to feel.

How does it feel?

How does it feel to bring this intention with you to this year?

If your intention is to feel more at peace,

How does it feel?

How does it feel in your body to feel more peace?

Where in your body do you feel it?

If your intention is to bring more positivity,

How does that feel?

Where in your body do you feel this positivity?

Does it feel like warmth?

Try to think of how you want to feel this year.

What would you like to bring with you to every start of the day?

Regardless of how the day happens,

How life happens,

What do you want to bring into each day of this year?

What do you want to bring with you?

And so as you sit with this intention,

Bring your awareness again to your breath.

Bring your awareness to your body being breathed.

How does it feel when the air enters your body?

Where in your body do you feel your breath the most?

Is it your shoulders,

Your chest?

Is it in your belly?

Just take a second to bring awareness to that gently.

And as you resume breathing effortlessly and with ease,

Take now a moment to listen to the words that are coming,

To the guidance,

To the affirmations.

Simply listen,

Let them soak in.

As I breathe in,

I breathe in opportunity,

Hope,

And possibility.

As I breathe out,

I breathe out resentment,

Limitations,

And negativity.

As I breathe in,

I breathe in love,

Kindness,

And care.

As I breathe out,

I breathe out anger,

Limitation,

And disconnect.

As I breathe in,

I breathe in self-compassion,

Open-mindedness,

And tolerance.

As I breathe out,

I breathe out guilt,

Neglect,

And anger.

As I breathe in,

I breathe in expansion,

Limitlessness,

Possibility.

As I breathe out,

I breathe out negativity,

Heaviness,

And limitation.

As you continue breathing,

Try to always breathe in lightness,

Breathe in possibility,

Breathe in opportunity.

While breathing out anything that no longer serves you,

Limiting beliefs,

Negative thinking,

Guilt.

Think of breathing as this natural process of welcoming yourself,

Of welcoming abundance,

Of welcoming possibility.

Breathing out as a kind and gentle way of letting go.

Letting go of any load that is too much to carry,

Letting go of anything that you gently want to release.

So before we end this beginning of the year sitting,

Take one last moment to bring your awareness again to your intention.

What's your intention for this year?

What energy are you bringing into this year?

What do you want more of this year?

How do you want to feel every day?

And with that in mind,

Take a second to just draw a slight smile on your face,

Feeling the area between your eyes,

Relaxing,

Expanding.

And place your hand on your heart,

Taking one second to say thank you to yourself,

Taking this moment to set your intention for the year.

And as you release your hand,

You can gently open your eyes.

And I would like to thank you for spending this moment with me.

Have a lovely day.
