A guided meditation inviting the listener to pay attention to both the sound of a meditation bell and the silence between the sounds. I made this for my 6 year old and I hope that you and the kiddos in your life enjoy it too.

Hi,

I'm Itzel from Attuned Living and today we're going to play a game,

A listening game.

And you're going to be listening to a chime or a meditation bell as I ring it.

And you'll try to listen to the sound all the way until it disappears.

And when you hear it's gone,

You'll let me know by raising your hand.

So let's start by sitting or lying down.

Make the body nice and cozy and comfortable.

And then let the eyes gently close.

And when I make the sound,

Try to listen with more than just the ears.

Listen with the body,

The mind,

The heart.

When we really listen to something,

Sometimes we'll notice that we're listening with so much more than the ears.

So I'm going to ring the chime a few times now and listen while the sound is getting quieter and quieter and quieter.

And when you don't hear it anymore,

Quietly put up your hand and then put your hand back down for the next time.

Okay,

Here we go.

I'm going to chime again and keep listening with the ears and with as much of you as you can.

It's like the sound fills you up.

And if you forget and start thinking about something else,

That's okay.

Let's start listening again.

Notice how the sound gets softer and softer until it totally disappears.

It's kind of amazing.

You can still hear it when it's so soft,

Isn't it?

And when the sound isn't there anymore,

Notice the quiet.

What does the quiet feel like?

Does it feel rustful or calm or lively or sparkly or shimmery?

Listening to the quiet can make you feel quiet inside too sometimes.

How are your mind and body and heart feeling after all this listening?

You can listen to anything like this,

Even other people.

You can give a friend or someone in your family 100% of your listening and attention.

Maybe you already know someone who listens to you like that.

That might feel really good.

Okay we're gonna finish now.

And I want to send you off with a reminder that you can listen with your whole body to sounds around you at any time.

Any time you want to calm down and enjoy the quiet that's inside of you.

And before we go,

Let's send out a silent wish that everyone,

Everywhere,

Feel that quiet,

Feel that peace inside,

Inside themselves.

And then as you're ready,

Gently open the eyes.

And thank you so much for joining me today.
