Welcome to this morning meditation for five intentional breaths.
Coming into a comfortable seat,
Allowing the spine to be tall,
Imagining you have a string,
Pulling the crown of the head up toward the ceiling,
Dropping the shoulders away from the ears,
Relaxing your face,
Closing the eyes.
Let's begin our morning by acknowledging what has been keeping us alive from the very moment we were born until this very moment,
Our breath.
Our breath is the most important thing we do every day,
Yet often we are unaware we are even breathing.
It only takes five breaths to change our emotional mindset.
Let's honor our life force this morning by paying attention to our breath and taking five complete and purposeful breaths together.
Notice where you're conscious of your breath the most.
Perhaps it's the nose as the air comes in the body,
Maybe the rise and fall of your chest or maybe the belly,
Wherever that is for you.
See if you can keep your attention there throughout this practice.
Let's begin.
As you fully inhale,
Breathe deeply into the belly,
Expanding the ribs,
The chest,
Breathing in as much as you can.
Pause when you feel completely full.
Notice the fullness.
Exhale,
Letting all the air out of you and just notice the space you created.
Maybe you have your hands on the diaphragm just below the ribs to really connect with the breath.
Inhale again,
Breathing deeply into the belly,
Filling your entire system with fresh oxygen.
Pause.
Notice the fullness.
Exhale,
Letting all the air release out of the body.
Breathing in,
Let's fill up completely,
Taking in more air than you normally would.
Filling up the ribs and lungs are expanded as full as possible.
Pause.
Notice this fullness.
Exhale,
Letting every bit of air go and relax the body as you just notice the space.
Breathing in once more,
Feeling these breaths purify your body.
Feel completely full,
Pause,
Soaking in all the fresh oxygen.
Exhale,
Allow the body to relax as you release every bit of air.
On this last breath together,
Really fill up,
Feeling enlivened by this air.
When you feel completely full,
Pause,
Soaking it all in.
And as you exhale,
Relax everything in the body,
Letting all the air go.
Notice how you feel in this moment.
Feeling every cell filled with air.
When we allow ourselves to breathe fully and deeply,
It is an act of self-love.
I hope you feel energized and ready for this new day and all the things coming your way.
And when you feel ready,
Slowly open your eyes to this beautiful world we are so lucky to live in.
Thanks for breathing with me today.
