Hello wonderful beings!
So today we are going to practice a meditation that will help you to deal with your cold,
Flu,
Allergies or any other thing like that bothering you.
Today I am also recording this while I have cold to keep the experience more authentic and let's see what happens.
So I would request you to take a comfortable position.
As you are suffering from cold,
Your nose might be runny.
So in that case you can choose to lie down on your bed and also maybe have a pillow under your head to support you with a warm blanket over you to be in that warm,
Safe and comfortable space or it may also be possible that your nose is stuffy and is blocked and you are not able to breathe right now.
So it might help you to sit down and maybe have your back supported by the back of chair or wall or anything so that you can have the support as well as be able to breathe with some ease.
So take whichever position you prefer.
Right now I am sitting upright because that's the position my body needs to be in.
So just listen to your body and give whatever your body needs.
Just remember all you need to do is to have your back straight and relax.
Now if you feel like you can close your eyes gently while exhaling.
So take a deep breath with me.
I assure you that I would not make you focus on your breath because I know that it might trigger you or make you more uncomfortable,
Make you feel suffocated or something else because yes,
Breath seems to be the problem in our cold.
So if you used breath as an anchor in your previous meditation practices or you are meditating for the first time,
Then instead of focusing your attention back to your breath each time you feel uncomfortable,
Overwhelmed or anything else,
You can instead just scan your body briefly to find out that which part of your body feels more comfortable,
More peaceful,
More calm and more soothing to you.
So scan it with me.
Bring your attention to each of the body part to select what will you focus on when you feel unpleasant during this practice and also after this practice during your day.
So bring your attention to your head,
Face,
Neck,
Shoulders,
Your left hand,
Your right hand,
Your chest,
Your stomach,
Your whole back,
Your pelvis,
Your whole right leg,
Your whole left leg.
So now you might have noticed that there are some parts in your body that are very tensed,
Some parts that are very stuffed and some parts that are neutral and there are some parts where where you feel calm.
So in spite of all this your body is going through,
There are still some parts that make you feel good,
That make you feel calm.
So I hope that you have identified one part in your body that makes you feel pleasant or at least neutral.
For me that part is my hips,
That sensation of support.
You might also realize that the sensations in your body might have shifted,
Some parts of your body might have just released the tension or softened by just this practice of scanning or paying attention to that body part.
All our body wants is just our attention.
Usually we are so consumed by our thoughts,
By our daily tasks that we have no time or we don't even feel our body anymore.
It's like we are living in our head and all the body parts below that have no meaning for us and don't even exist for us.
But sometimes our body so desperately needs our attention and wants to fulfill their needs that it makes us ill because it's just asking for that attention that it deserves and it also makes us realize that how hard each of the cells in our body functions.
Right?
So in this moment let's share that gratitude toward each part of our body that have worked so hard to help us function in our life and are still working so hard to fight this infection,
To fight all those foreign agents in our body right now.
Let's just give them a glimmer of gratitude,
That love that each of our body part deserves.
You can choose a specific body part and then move on to the overall body.
So for now I will start with our nose because I think that might be the most affected region for many people during the cold.
So let's just thank our nose,
Thank you nose for filtering all those foreign particles so that our lungs can function well.
Thank you nose for allowing all that oxygen to reach our bodies so that we can live.
Thank you nose for making us experience those pleasant smells of fruits,
Flowers,
Perfumes,
The dishes that our mothers made for us lovingly and every other smell that brings us whole lot of memories,
Pleasant ones and unpleasant ones to make us feel alive and to connect us to that outside world.
Thank you so much.
Now also wishing our nose well.
May my nose be able to breathe smoothly and efficiently as ever.
May all those liquids,
Phlegm or mucus just clear up.
May my nose experience all those beautiful smells again.
Now take a breath,
No need for it to be a deep one,
Just a breath.
Now let's move on to our throat.
For some people the throat might be aching aching right now,
Maybe swollen,
Maybe dry or maybe filled with mucus and all that.
So let's just see our throats.
So now we will thank our throat.
Thank you my dear throat for making a passage for both the air filled with fresh oxygen and the food filled with the nutrients my body need.
I really appreciate how you manage passing on both things to my body so efficiently.
Now we'll move on to wishing our throats well.
So this time we can visualize a white healing light on the top of our heads which is passing through our head directly into our throat.
That light is touching each cell of our throat,
Removing the ones that are dead and healing the ones that are swollen or maybe dry.
Feel the warmth of that light on each cell of your throat,
Taking away all the pain,
All the suffering and leaving behind that warmth,
That smoothness,
That renewed energy.
Each time you are swallowing your saliva you can feel that smoothness that have been replaced by that white light.
Your throat have become so smooth that now that white light is moving down from your throat to your lungs.
That light is being divided to your right and left lung,
Reaching all the way to those alveoli sacs,
Moving into each branch,
Each nodule.
Every cell of your lung is filled with that healing light,
Filled with that warmth.
Thank you my lungs for making sure that the oxygen from the environment and all the other things I needed reach every cell of my body through blood.
Thank you for working so well in spite of the environments I have put you in.
The polluted ones,
The foggy winter environment,
The dusty ones,
Everything I have put you through and you have worked so hard,
So well and provided my body with whatever it needed.
Thank you.
Now take an in-breath,
No need for it to be deep or fast.
Just take a slow and comfortable in-breath and release all that healing energy from your lungs through your nose to the environment,
Returning back all that loving energy because that energy has worked the miracle and given all those parts that were suffering the healing that they needed.
Now if there is any other part of your body that might be caught up in that cold,
Maybe your eyes are watery or maybe your back is aching or maybe your whole body feels weak right now.
So let's just thank our body for fighting through the infection and imagine that all that energy that we released right now is forming a thin layer all around our body.
That healing white light has wrapped your body making it feel more warm and relaxing each of the body part that is suffering or in some kind of pain right now.
We will stay in this cocoon of white healing light for a few more seconds.
Now imagine that the white healing light has transported you into your happy place where you are completely healthy,
Happy and peaceful.
It can be anything,
A park,
A beach,
Mountains,
Cabin in a forest,
Your gaming room with family,
Anything.
Imagine what you are doing,
The taste,
Smell,
What you are seeing,
Hearing,
Are you standing or sitting or maybe lying down.
Imagine every little detail of that scene,
Of that situation you are in.
Just soak in everything about that space and just live that experience again,
No matter it's of your past or it's imaginary.
Now bring your attention back to the support beneath you.
Now whenever you feel comfortable,
You can wiggle your toes and your fingers and then maybe stretch a bit or move your body in any way your body wants.
To end the practice,
Rub your hands together to generate the warmth to feel the after effect of that white healing light and after you generate enough warmth,
Just touch your both eyes with your hands and feel that healing effect.
Thank you for being with me for this meditation.
I know this illness might be overwhelming,
Irritating,
Frustrating for you right now.
You might be worried about the work that is left over.
Someone else might do that work for you.
Someone else might be taking care of the responsibilities you have and your loved ones just need you to take this rest,
This time to take care of your body,
Of yourself.
So just trust the process and give your body whatever it needs.
If you feel overwhelmed or irritated anytime during the day,
You can stop and perform that brief body scan and bring your attention to any body part that feel neutral or even pleasant because there is always something even so small that it might not often be so easily noticed.
So there will always be a body part that you can take refuge in,
That you can be with.
So hope you get better soon and hope your body gets the rest it needed.
Take care.

I love the themes of the meditations you offer. This morning I was at the tail end of a lingering cold and not expecting to find a meditation specifically on this condition... 🙃 thank you for this. I now feel ready for the day and to allow space for the healing process. 🙏

Lovely, warm, and comforting meditation that doesn’t rely on breathwork - which is great because, you, like me, are doing this because you have a cold or flu and have a stuffy nose and are coughing - helps pass the time and sheds light on enjoying this time-out from our busy lives. Thank you!
