This meditation is about helping you to get to sleep when your mind is busy or if you need some guidance to help let go.
It's about helping you to let go of the mind's worries so that you can calm right down and then to sink deep beneath into a more serene state of mind.
Whenever I feel wound up I start by slowing my breathing down and bring my awareness down into my body.
It can help too if I visualize my body wrapped up in a snug cocoon to really anchor my awareness with the heavy physical sensations in the body as I continue to slow the breath right down.
And so just moving your awareness down from your head to your neck and shoulders down to your chest and arms and hands.
Maybe just becoming aware of the palms of your hands and then your five fingers and then into the belly,
Buttocks and down into your legs and feet.
Keeping your awareness anchored to the whole body,
Heavy,
Present in the body.
And if there are any persistent thoughts,
Just cutting them loose and releasing them of their relevance and instead inviting sleep,
Welcoming slumber and relaxing your body.
Breathing slowly and steadily,
Giving space to and then releasing unwanted stress.
Allowing yourself to fall into a mind state that's far more at peace.
Below or far away from any waves or movements in the mind.
Sinking into a kind of transcendental state of calm that's too lazy to be bothered by any thoughts.
It's time to release through the breath,
Breathing slowly,
Calmly and allowing life to take care of itself while you just simply sink into that feeling of feeling more rested and tranquil and at peace.
Unwinding,
Releasing,
Feeling embodied and deeply at peace.
Trusting beyond the mind's chatter,
Feeling the body and sinking below.
Sinking,
Relaxing,
Yawning,
Slowly breathing.
As the breath becomes slower and shallower,
The mind becomes slower and freer as the body relaxes.
Releasing all thoughts,
Releasing all concerns,
Allowing yourself to drift into sleep.
And if you would like to repeat this meditation to release some more,
You can.
Otherwise I will leave you now to invite sleep into your own experience of calm by continuing to breathe slowly,
Cut loose from any thoughts and be open to the experience of sleep.
