Welcome,
I'll be talking for a few minutes and then guiding you through a short meditation to help you move from hurried to here.
Make sure you're in a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down.
You can close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Now,
Take a slow,
Deep breath and allow your body to settle in.
If you've been racing around trying to get it all done,
But there's nothing that actually needs your attention right now,
This is for you.
We're going to pause and take a few moments together.
Your nervous system will thank you.
You can still get things done after this pause,
But it will come from a calm place instead of a race to a place that you never actually reach.
Sometimes our nervous systems get revved up into overdrive.
Old programming tries to convince us that we have to finish everything before we can actually rest.
You have to send that email,
Finish that task,
Run that errand,
Do that load of laundry,
Get back to that project,
And then you can relax.
Of course there are times when something truly needs our attention right away,
But for many people,
Much of the rushing energy is just an old mental program that never actually pays off.
Because even when the email is sent,
And the project is finished,
And the laundry is done,
And the dishes are washed,
What happens next?
More emails,
More projects,
More meals.
The clothes you're wearing need washing.
There is no moment of arrival.
Our minds might try to convince us otherwise,
But there is no there to get to.
There is here.
We can still get things done,
But when we're relaxed,
Connected,
And embodied,
We get things done with ease and flow instead of racing in a hurried pace before we can connect with our bodies and present moment awareness.
So let's step out of the somewhere to get program and return home to the arms of presence.
Your inner guidance will still lead you to the next thing to do when we're done,
But it won't come from cortisol and adrenaline.
It will come from clarity,
Calm,
And flow.
Bring your attention now to your breath.
Follow your next few breaths all the way in and all the way out.
Nice and slow.
If it feels good to you,
You can lengthen your exhales a little bit.
You can deepen your breath if you'd like,
Or you can simply breathe at your own natural pace.
Give your shoulders permission to soften and relax.
Relax the muscles around your eyes.
Imagine your brain relaxing.
Release your jaw.
Feel your breath from the inside.
Maybe you can even hear your breathing.
Imagine your day is like a gentle river.
Remember,
You don't need to paddle upstream.
You can go with the flow.
Nowhere to get,
Simply moving from here to here.
If your mind tries to pull you back into the idea that you have to get somewhere before you can stop or relax or slow down,
Remember it's an old program.
You don't have to fall for it.
Come back to your breath.
Come back to your body.
Even a few moments of presence can soften that wound up energy and clear space for your natural inner guidance.
As you finish this little pause and return to the next thing in your day,
Set an intention to move from a gentle flow rather than a rushing river.
Let each thing you do be its own moment of presence.
Nowhere to get,
Just being here.
You can feel free to rest here as long as you'd like.
And whenever you're ready,
You can open your eyes and slowly,
Like the gentle flow of a soft river,
Carry this unhurried presence with you.
