When you look at a flower,

Or a bird,

Or your favorite place in nature,

What's the gaze in your eyes like?

When you look at a puppy,

Or a kitten,

Or a person you adore,

How does it feel inside when you look at them?

What if you could capture the way you look at nature,

Or your loved ones,

And practice looking at yourself that way?

What if,

When you looked at yourself in the mirror,

You could see yourself with eyes of appreciation,

Kindness,

Or even love,

The same way you see someone,

Someplace,

Or something that you appreciate and love?

Of course,

If you've been in the habit of harshly criticizing and critiquing your body,

This will take some practice.

But,

Since we get better at what we practice,

This is an extremely worthwhile mission.

I hope you'll try it,

And let me know how it goes.

Andrea, Simple advice and well worth practicing. I started out by smiling at myself if the mirror, and it was a positive impetus to be happy to see myself every morning! It’s part of knowing that in life, it’s good to know I’m my own best friend. Im reliably happy to see me! Sounds funny, but it’s true! Thank you so much for your meditations. I find them a tremendous resource! Donna

My takeaway: perspective shift, I do gaze differently towards others and need to gaze at myself more kindly. Better than avoiding it, that's for sure. KEY: 5*Insightful 4*Interesting 3*Okay 2*Not For Me 1*Irritating

This is a wonderful reminder thank you! Lately I've been pretty critical about the aging I see in my face when I look in the mirror. This is a great perspective shift. Love and blessings to you!

Whew. A simple but very tough exercise! I am turning 60 in a few days and am daily seeing and feeling the alarming results of aging on my physical body. When I look in my eyes, though, I see a lifetime of living and the beauty of being me. Thank you for this reminder to see the wonder and joy in ourselves
