Tapping For Beginners
This is a quick introduction to EFT tapping and the tapping points. I'll explain what tapping is (a somatic stress reduction technique) and guide you through the common tapping points so that you can become more familiar with how to tap on your own and be ready to tap along with me in my other tapping recordings. This track is great for beginners who are new to EFT tapping. For more guidance, check out my Introduction To EFT Tapping Course here on InsightTimer.

Hello,
Insight Timer family.
This is a short introduction to EFT tapping and the tapping points for beginners who are not familiar with this technique.
Tapping is a somatic stress reduction technique.
It involves stimulating acupressure points on the body and can be used while talking through an issue or repeating affirmations.
Tapping on these points has a positive effect on the stress areas of the brain.
It also has been proven to lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
It's a fantastic modality to help you calm down as well as gain clarity on your thoughts,
Feelings,
And emotions.
When we are calm,
We are more able to process information,
Solve problems,
And return to self-awareness.
Before we start,
I would love for you to take a big sip of water if you have some and rate yourself on a scale of zero to 10 based on how you're feeling,
With zero being no stress at all,
Feeling great,
And 10 being the most stressed out or anxious a person can be.
Make a note of that number any time you start a tapping session.
This is what we refer to as the SUD scale or subjective units of distress.
Measuring your feelings using this scale will help determine how well the tapping is working and if you need to keep tapping on the issue further.
You can measure yourself again after each tapping round as you practice today or in the future.
I'll start by introducing you to a simple,
Easy side of the hand tapping.
You can begin by taking two to four fingers from your dominant hand,
Tapping those fingers on the side of your non-dominant hand,
That meaty part on the side of the hand between the pinky and the wrist,
Tapping at a pace and pressure that feels good to you,
Firm but gentle.
You might try starting at a pace that's about double a normal heart rate with a pressure that you would use if you were tapping someone on the shoulder.
You can listen to the pace that I am tapping now and tap along.
Don't worry if you think you're getting it wrong,
It's not an exact science.
So there's no harm in tapping at a slightly different pace and pressure.
Trust your intuition and tap in a way that feels right for you.
I love the side of the hand tapping and if that's the only acupressure point that you access during a tapping,
That is great.
But I will now introduce you to some other tapping points that I refer to as the full round.
These are also the points that are used when researching tapping in clinical trials.
We'll start at the top of the head point.
You can use both hands to tap or just one hand.
And if you're unable to access any of these new points or unable to use your hands at all,
You can just imagine that you are tapping on these points.
Also,
You may wanna write down these points so you can refer back to them later if you want to grab something to write with if you haven't already.
All right,
Starting at the top of the head,
Right in the center on the crown of the head,
You can tap with both hands or one.
Don't worry about exact placement here.
If you're tapping with two hands,
You can alternate the taps or tap with both hands at the same time.
The next point is the eyebrow.
Just above the eyebrow towards the center of the face,
So on the inside of the eyebrows.
I tap with two fingers on this point,
But do what feels comfortable for you.
And again,
If you're tapping with both hands on both eyebrows,
You can alternate or you can tap both at the same time.
The next point is side of the eye.
This is on the outside of the eye,
Very close to the eye,
Not as far back,
But near the temple.
I use two fingertips on this point.
The next point is below the eye.
Again,
Pretty close to the eye.
You may want to tap a little more gently on this point.
You can try using one or two fingertips on this point or tap with the side of your finger if you have long nails.
The next point is below the nose.
I usually use the side of my pointing finger on this spot,
But you can also try using one or two fingertips here.
The next point is below the bottom lip,
Also called the chin point.
I sometimes use the side of my finger here,
But you can also use one or two or even three fingertips on this point.
The next point is the collarbones.
I like to tap on both of the collarbones at once using the first three fingers on both hands.
You can also use fingertips or make a gentle fist and tap here.
Again,
It doesn't have to be perfect.
And the last point is under the arm.
So about four inches below your armpit on the side of the body,
Kind of where there would be a side seam on your shirt or where your bra band would meet there on either side.
I might tap with the side of my hand on this point if I'm tapping on the same side as my hand.
So if I'm tapping on the right side of my body,
I would tap using the side of my right hand or I might reach my right hand across my body to tap under my left armpit,
Patting this area with a full hand or tapping with fingertips.
So take some time to figure out what feels comfortable here given the width of your chest and the length of your arms.
One additional point that I like to use is tapping the inside of my two wrists together.
Otherwise,
This would be a full round and you would then go back up to the top of the head.
When you are doing a full round,
You can tap on each point for about 10 to 12 taps or for as long as it takes you to repeat the tapping phrase if you're following along with someone or you have a script or affirmations.
After each phrase or affirmation,
You move to the next tapping point.
This is how I recommend practicing tapping if you're following along with my tapping recordings here on Insight Timer.
But again,
It's not an exact science and you are not going to get it wrong or mess anything up if you choose to tap at your own pace,
Pressure or pattern.
I wanna keep this one short,
But there is so much more to tell you about tapping which has truly transformed my life.
So if you're interested in diving deeper,
I'd love for you to take my introduction to EFT tapping course here on Insight Timer.
I hope this instruction has been helpful for you.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Once you practice this a few times,
You'll easily have the pattern memorized.
