Hello and welcome.

This is a tapping meditation and visualization to support anyone experiencing anxiety due to perimenopause or any other hormonal fluctuations.

If you're not familiar with tapping,

You may want to listen to my Tapping for Beginners track or my Introduction to Tapping course here on Insight Timer to become more familiar with the modality before this practice.

Otherwise I invite you to repeat the tapping phrases after me out loud or inside your mind.

You can tap long beginning with the side of the hand point.

I invite you to change any of these phrases into your own language if they don't resonate with you completely.

Let's start with a deep slow breath in through the nose,

Into the belly and exhaling when you're ready through the mouth,

Letting go.

One more time.

And begin tapping on the side of the hand,

Repeating after me.

My hormones are on a bit of a rollercoaster and that doesn't always feel safe.

I don't always feel securely strapped in,

Into my mind or my body.

Sometimes this causes me to experience anxiety and I may feel shame for not feeling well or not being able to perform as usual.

I'm used to being someone who can handle stress,

Who can take care of everything,

But now I'm in a phase of my life where I don't always fully trust my body.

My body is changing in ways I might not recognize or understand and my mind likes to make up stories about my age,

My body and my health.

And sometimes I ruminate on worst case scenarios.

Even though I'm going through these changes and these changes may cause anxiety,

I deeply love and accept myself.

I'm choosing to accept that my body is changing.

I'm choosing to accept that I'm feeling discomfort and I'm choosing to love myself through this.

I'm inviting in compassion.

I'm inviting in trust and I'm allowing myself to trust my body.

I'm inviting in a sense of safety and I'm inviting in patience as I move through these changes.

All right,

You can pause tapping and take a deep breath here,

Good.

If you're familiar with the additional tapping points,

You can move to the top of the head now and tap on the next point after each phrase.

If you are not familiar with the tapping sequence,

You can keep tapping on the side of the hand and repeat after me.

While these changes are uncomfortable,

What I am experiencing is not uncommon and there is nothing inherently wrong with me.

So I'm choosing to take my power back from these tricky hormonal fluctuations and from these stories my mind is creating.

I'm sending a message to my body that you are safe.

These sensations are temporary and we are still strong and capable.

And I'm sending a message to my mind,

Thank you for trying to protect me.

Thank you for setting off the alarms,

But you too are safe.

It is safe to slow down.

We are still a wonderful being and this anxiety will pass.

Even though I am going through so much and maybe I feel alone or not understood,

I deeply love and accept myself and I'm choosing to relax,

I forgive myself and I'm opening the door to feeling better.

I can't always control my hormones,

But I can control my reactions.

And that is what I am doing now,

Choosing to feel calm and safe.

You can stop tapping now.

Take another deep,

Slow inhale through the nose into the belly,

Longer,

Slower exhale through the mouth,

Letting go,

Releasing the stress,

Releasing the cortisol.

One more deep breath in,

Take a moment here to get really comfortable and close your eyes down if that feels good,

If you haven't already,

Relaxing even deeper and begin to imagine a beautiful and safe space.

Maybe it's a garden or a beach or maybe you're floating in space.

Whatever you imagine is perfect.

Take a moment to appreciate the view here.

Take a breath in and notice the delightful fragrances here.

Notice the temperature,

Notice the colors of this safe space,

Maybe you're reaching out and touching something here,

Noticing how it feels,

The texture of it and notice now someone who looks a lot like you approaching from the distance and as they get closer,

You notice a calm,

Loving expression on their face.

You feel a tremendous sense of peace as they move towards you and notice another woman and another and another gently walking to meet you,

To be with you.

Women who have been through exactly what you have been through,

Here now to witness you,

To hold you,

To comfort you,

Feel now the energy of compassion surrounding you.

Feel the love and strength that these women have brought to you.

Take a moment to feel the support,

To feel the love and strength filling your body and with it a lightness as if your anxiety was a heavy coat that you have now shed and with this lightness comes a brightness.

Take a moment here to feel into this lightness,

This brightness,

All of this relief knowing that you can come back to this feeling anytime you need to and if you would like,

You can send some of this feeling,

This brightness out to another.

Now begin to become aware of your body again,

Noticing its softness and calmness,

Maybe putting a hand on your heart and expressing some gratitude towards this body.

When you're ready,

Maybe beginning to move your hands and your feet,

Maybe wiggling your fingers and your toes,

Coming back into this space and this time and stretching out your arms,

Opening your heart,

Opening your eyes or continuing to relax and thank you for joining me today.

I hope that you are feeling so much better.

These feelings of anxiety and discomfort are only ever temporary and I am sending you love and acknowledgment for what you are going through.

I am here with you.

You will get through this.

Please be compassionate with yourself today and if you did the tapping,

Be sure to drink lots of water today,

Clear out that energy.

All my love to you.

I have been tapping with a practitioner and your wording was very similar to hers… So I change the wording to fit what works for me. This was a great practice as I was having an off system day in regards to my nervous system. I didn’t sleep well, and I’m struggling with sleep during this phase of life. Thank you so much for this routine … It’s not just for perimenopause it’s for menopause and beyond… For all those struggling with hormones and all the stuff that goes with it… Thank you for the reminder to love my body and trust our bodies during this phase of life.

Good. Definitely want to have. Basic understanding of tapping sequences to get the full benefit. Would’ve liked this to have been a bit longer of a meditation.

These words were so perfect, I could cry. This has been such a hard time and I’m trying to adjust. I did this before bed as I am randomly cramping terribly even though not bleeding yet. It relaxed me.

Mahalo for validating what we women go through & providing relief for this perimenopause anxiety! I’m new to tapping & I can’t believe how much it actually works! You brought me to tears as I said these affirmations while tapping. I appreciate all that you do!
