Hello,
My name is Amy and I welcome you to Divine Etymologies,
A series of guided meditations that I've created to explore with you the ways in which we access the divine in our everyday lives,
Specifically through the contemplation of language,
Words,
And etymology,
The history of words.
Language is what allows us to experience our world.
Everything has a word or a name attached to it.
We think with words,
We pray with words,
We meditate with words.
With that in mind,
I've created this series to examine words often used in the fields of religion,
Spirituality,
And meditation.
The goal is to consider each word more closely,
Intentionally,
To deepen our understanding and maybe learn something new.
The great eternal source from which we come is beyond language.
The infinite,
The divine,
Is something that we as human beings cannot fully comprehend in our thoughts.
We have the words infinite and divine,
And we have an idea of what they mean,
But we can't fully understand because it's so much more than our finite minds can conceive of.
And yet,
Our words can still get us a long way toward the divine.
Everything in creation is energy.
Everything is vibration.
Our divine source is the purest,
Lightest energy and the highest vibration.
Everything else is a portion of that,
Different levels,
Different frequencies.
Words are the same.
Words carry energy.
They convey the energy of what they define here and now,
Good and bad,
And they carry with them the energy of their history.
Understanding this can enhance our meditative practice.
Each session in this series will have both a talk about the etymology of the day's chosen word and a related guided meditation.
So I warmly invite you to join me in this exploration of how our words can help us access the divine in our everyday lives.
Until next time,
Words carry energy,
So use them wisely.
