As a sensitive or empathic person, you might often feel drained, overwhelmed or anxious. These feelings may not even belong to you. This short, simple meditation will guide you back to yourself, releasing and clearing any heavy energy that doesn't belong to you and calling your own vital energy back. You'll feel grounded, revitalized and more connected to your true self again.

So if you're a sensitive soul like I am,

You might already be aware that you could be soaking in other people's energy and at the end of the day you're feeling drained or emotional or sensitive or just not really like yourself.

So this will be a great short meditation for you to help release some of that and let it go so that you can feel more grounded,

Calm and present in your own body.

So just go ahead and take any final little adjustments or shifts so that you are in a comfortable seated position in a chair or on the floor or wherever you are,

Wherever works for you.

Rest your hands in your lap.

Lengthen your spine,

Let your shoulders draw back and down.

We'll talk to your chin,

You can look down or close or soften your eyelids and just start to become aware of whatever's going on around you,

Any distractions,

Any sounds,

Just notice them.

As a sensitive person,

We can cling on to things that are happening around us without even realizing how us absorbing those things can affect our mood and even our quality of life.

So taking a moment to slow down and be aware of what's happening and how it's affecting us is a great way to start to feel ready to let some of that stuff go.

So in the moments where you do feel overwhelmed or anxious or drained,

You know that you can slow down,

Become aware and follow a short meditation like this one to help clear some of that out.

So as you are here,

Just start to get in tune with your breath.

It doesn't need to change,

Just feel how the breath moves through your body in this moment.

And now observe how you're feeling,

Just notice what sensations,

What emotions,

Whatever's coming up for you today,

Feel it.

Now I want you to ask yourself a question and that question simply is,

Is this mine?

So we're identifying whether or not these feelings even belong to you.

Whatever it is that you're feeling,

Whether it's stress,

If you're feeling tired,

Exhausted,

Fatigued,

If you're feeling scattered,

Angry,

Upset,

Whatever it is,

Is this mine?

Sit with that for a moment and observe.

And bring your awareness back to your breath.

And repeat this mantra after me,

Either silently or out loud.

I am ready to let go of any thoughts,

Emotions or sensations that don't belong to me.

Take a deep breath in,

Big exhale out.

Keeping your eyes closed or soft.

I want you to imagine that from the soles of your feet slowly moving up all the way to the crown of the head,

There's a sweeping motion,

Kind of allowing the dust to come up and release.

So anything that isn't yours,

Start to focus on the feet first and there's like a swirling of any dust that doesn't belong to you.

The dust is sweeping up out of your body and settling into the air,

Being released.

Let that dust keep swirling up through the legs,

Swirling around the hips,

Just releasing any stuck energy in the hips,

The low belly,

That sacral chakra,

The upper belly.

Just allowing any of that dust to release from your body around the chest,

The heart,

The shoulders,

The throat,

The neck,

The face,

The head,

The third eye and the crown of the head,

All releasing any dust,

Any heaviness that doesn't belong to you.

Just keep it light.

Keep breathing.

Dropping into your breath again once you've moved through the entire body.

Now I want you to imagine a golden sun above your head,

So a really bright golden light.

That beam is going to start to fill your body up from the top of your head all the way down through your feet,

Filling you back up with your own energy,

Your own life force.

Feel that golden light coming in through the top of the head,

Filling up the third eye,

The face,

The throat,

The neck,

Shoulders,

Chest,

Solar plexus area,

The upper belly,

The low belly,

The spine,

The low back,

The entire width of the hips getting filled with this golden light of your own life force,

Your own energy.

Feel that light energizing through the legs all the way down to the feet.

Just for a moment here,

Continue to breathe,

Entire body being lit up with your own energy and feeling protected and supported and whole.

Just be here with your breath.

Observe how you feel.

You can linger here longer,

Soaking in this feeling of wholeness,

This energized being of joy,

Calm,

Presence.

You can come back to this meditation whenever you need a little reset of your own energy.

Ali, a helpful release practice to be used, after I've been in triggering situations from crowds and noise to conversations/contact with intense individuals and healthcare appointments. As a massage therapist I have tried many things to ground and protect myself from taking on another's energy. If I'm having a low vibe day or otherwise ungrounded it sneaks in and permeates various facets. This is the first time, through this guidance, that I feel like I have a solid approach to separation and protection.
