This meditation is for anyone recovering from an injury, relapse, or illness and for anyone who is being called to take time to rest and heal and is finding that call frustrating. The call to rest in relapses, or from injury, is actually a call to healing and deep nourishment, and surrendering to it will bring good things. This meditation guides you gradually into a restful state and encourages long, slow breathing, which we know is tremendously soothing for the nervous system.

And begin by giving yourself a chance to settle in and be in a space that feels nice for you.

Feels peaceful and quiet perhaps.

It's important to find somewhere where you don't feel overstimulated because you're now soothing your nervous system.

And give your body plenty of time to unwind.

Let it know it has time,

Whatever it's feeling now.

However,

For example,

Fast your heart is racing.

If there's any shaking,

Jittery feelings,

The body is beginning to unwind.

Your body is finding its pace.

You've given it permission.

Let it take its time.

Time for those excess feelings,

Sensations from the last action phase of your life to be gently flushed through your nervous system.

And you might feel that.

And that is fine.

Natural and the way it works.

And instead of resisting the sensations,

If you're used to doing that perhaps allow yourself to feel them.

There may be some aches there,

Numbness,

Tingling,

Heat or cold.

Every time you feel any resisting or clenching against these,

See if you can soften and let go into the pure feeling.

To let go of holding on in your body.

To allow gravity to do its job and simply drop the weight of your bones toward the earth.

So you can be with feeling and breathe into it.

Breathe a delightful,

Balmy breath into all those places that may be calling your attention with sensations.

Seeing if you can fall literally into your bones and your muscles and your skin.

Fall into your physical being.

Let's breathe together.

Begin by taking a nice,

Long,

Slow breath.

Long,

Slow breath in.

And a nice,

Long,

Slow breath out.

And keep with those nice,

Long,

Slow breaths.

And feel how your breath is moving inside your body.

Feel how breath flows from the air through your nostrils and softly caresses your throat as it runs down into your heart and your belly.

Feel how your belly feels like a balloon and then you feel your breath moving up again as your belly releases.

Now as you feel your exhalation moving up through your heart and into your shoulders and releasing,

You can even let your shoulders consciously drop completely.

Letting go as you release your exhalation.

With your exhalation,

I invite you to let it really take its time.

Particularly your out-breath.

Make it long and languid and see how delightfully slowly it can unwind through your being and flow out.

Letting everything go as it goes.

That super languid and leisurely breath is one of our nervous systems favourites.

It gets a deeper reset from it.

It loves this breath.

And when you've emptied your breath,

There's a natural pause between the next breath coming.

Always a natural pause between breaths and I invite you to take that pause as a nice moment just for you.

And then let the next breath come naturally.

And be aware that as you breathe with yourself,

You're not being asked to focus or control or pay attention.

You're simply enjoying some breathing space and all the other feelings that come with it.

As your body begins to settle and unwind and shift gears,

There may be some nice drifting and dreaminess you can wonder.

That is delightful.

It's your journey.

Your rest.

There's nothing to do here.

Let go of any feeling you need to concentrate.

You don't.

This is rest time.

Make it effortless.

Let yourself go.

Allow yourself to drift.

This is rest time.

You You If any worries come can you give yourself this reminder I Am looking after myself and good things are coming It's nice for us to give ourselves a note of reassurance like that It's the truth I Am looking after myself and good things will come You And then as you rest here perhaps just visualize that circle around you As if there's a magic wand that is drawing a circle of light around yourself Casting a spell And Everything you want or need to be outside that circle to put it outside For now is outside that circle That you're inhabiting Under this spell of protection and light Any demands any feelings of things you thought you were going to do today that you can do another day See what you can put outside of the circle and let go of for now And let go of for now Any things you can give to other people to do they'd be glad to help You Anything's that really don't matter They're not as important as your rest and healing and coming back to life revived and renewed Anything you place outside the circle can be picked up again if you're still feeling they matter But not everything does and taking this time does help us find what truly matters So we can discard the excess You Keep returning to yourself at the center of the circle with an inner smile You You You You You And say to yourself I am looking after myself and good things will come You Remember the world can spin happily without your effort This is your inner world your sanctuary and you can rest here Your whole being can let go and give itself to this sanctuary this space Enjoy

Very soothing with lots of permission to be just as you are; also a gentle reframing of body sensations as a letting go, a relaxing into this very safe circle of light that allows for no intrusion or disruption that is unwanted. You are given an open invitation to care for yourself and know that good things are coming. So lovely, thank you.
