I get it,

You're knackered and you would love nothing more than to stop and have a nap.

However,

This is simply not an option because you don't have time,

Because you're at work,

Because you're out and about,

Because you have too many responsibilities.

But what you do have time for is to stop for these six or seven minutes that it's going to take to do this better than a nap meditation with me.

So I'm going to ask you to sit in a comfortable position and if it's not appropriate or possible for you to close your eyes,

Because you're in a public place and you don't feel comfortable,

Then I invite you to relax your gaze.

So it's like using your peripheral vision,

You're trying to see everything at once,

You're not looking at anything in particular.

And if you can close your eyes and you feel fine about that,

Then please do.

And first let's take three or four deeper,

Longer,

Slower breaths than usual.

So really breathing deep down into your belly,

Giving yourself permission to slow down.

This is perhaps the first time in the whole day that you've stopped.

Take a couple more deep,

Long,

Slow breaths.

And now I'd like you to use your imagination to imagine all the strands of your energy that you give out to the world,

To other people,

To other things.

So perhaps you want to imagine them as a light or as a colour.

And it's like you've got,

They're like tendrils coming out of your body.

The energy you give to your work,

To your passions,

To your kids,

If you've got kids,

To your family,

To friends,

To social life,

To hobbies,

Obligations.

The list goes on.

So you can imagine yourself in the centre and all these tendrils,

Some of them big and thick,

Some of them smaller depending on the amount of energy you give to each thing.

Just imagine them stretching out.

And I wonder if you're giving so much energy out to other people,

How much are you keeping for yourself?

So the invitation now is to start reeling these tendrils back in.

Some of them might be really long and really thick and you take your time reeling them in,

Calling them back in.

Just imagining some of them getting closer now,

Closer to your body.

This is your energy.

And as you start reeling this in and it starts to fill you up,

I invite you to imagine that your spine is like the charge symbol that you see on a laptop or a mobile phone.

So from the base of your spine all the way up.

As you reel this energy in,

You can feel your battery,

So in this case it's your spine,

Becoming charged.

So it starts at the base and we're going to charge it with a beautiful bright orange colour.

So you can feel and you can imagine your battery pack getting charged up.

As you reel more and more of your energy back home,

Then you can feel your spine getting filled up like a big orange battery.

Perhaps you're over halfway now or three quarters.

Your battery pack that goes from the base of your spine.

And as it gets up to being fully charged,

It goes all the way up your spine and right into the base of your head.

And perhaps there's a few stubborn tendrils that are taking their time to reel back in and that's okay.

If there's a bit of resistance,

That's fine,

You're doing your best.

And as you notice this inner battery pack getting fuller and fuller,

Then this orange energy that fills your spine starts to fill the rest of your body.

So it spills out from your spine and it fills up your whole trunk,

All the way down into your pelvis and your hips,

All the way down through your legs to your feet,

All the way up through belly,

Back,

Chest,

Shoulders,

Neck,

Head,

Back down shoulders to arms and to hands.

And sit for a few breaths now.

Notice how you feel perhaps more energised,

Lighter,

Less tired,

Full.

And whatever it is you're feeling,

Just observe and accept and notice that orange colour filling your body and knowing that you can come back to this exercise and to this meditation whenever you need.

So we're going to take a couple more breaths now as you start coming out of this meditation,

Moving your fingers and your toes.

And then when you're ready,

You can slowly open your eyes and come back.

I found the teacher’s voice welcoming. I loved the visualization of the various tendrils of my outgoing energy and then my recharge. So creative. I am a labyrinth facilitator and I may try something similar using multi coloured yarn. Thank you for offering this.
