Hi,
It's Alice.
Thanks for joining me.
This simple exercise is a really good way to check in with how you're feeling in a particular moment or how you're feeling about something specific.
You're going to check in with your head,
Heart and gut,
Also known as the body's three brains.
Through these,
You access your intellectual intelligence,
Your wisdom and your intuition.
This helps you make choices from a place of certainty,
Clarity and awareness.
So you might close your eyes now or soften your gaze.
Take three breaths in and out through your nose,
Feeling the air coming into your nostrils being a little cool and the air leaving them feeling a little warmer.
Now bring attention to your head.
What's occupying your mind?
What's your self-talk saying right now?
Is it maybe that I don't have time for this?
Why am I finding this hard to do?
Or something else that's preoccupying your mind from earlier?
Simply notice.
Now drop your attention to your heart and you might like to place one hand over your heart.
Through this simple action,
You actually trigger a small release of oxytocin into your system and this chemical will cause you to be a little more compassionate to yourself and that's always a positive thing.
And this is important to do.
Ask yourself,
How is my heart today?
Noticing what you're feeling in your heart right in this moment.
And now checking in with your gut.
Your hand placed here will help you focus your attention.
What is your gut telling you today?
What sensations or emotions can you notice coming up?
Can you give these a label or a name?
So it could be something like tight or fluttery or maybe it's nervous or calm or something else.
We can learn a lot when we tune into our gut,
Sometimes called our gut instinct.
Don't try to push these sensations or feelings down,
Just let them arrive and let them be.
Simply noticing what you're feeling right in this moment.
Take a breath in through your nose and a long exhale.
Exhale out of your mouth.
Thank yourself for checking in with your head,
Heart and gut and noticing how you feel right now.
Thanks for joining me today.
