Welcome to this meditation,
Taking full responsibility for our lives.
This is a self-development meditation and is not focused on relaxation.
It's important to note that before I start.
To begin with,
Take three deep breaths to calm the mind and body and help you become fully present.
Nice three deep breaths in and out of the nose,
Trying to breathe into the belly.
Excellent.
Now we'll begin.
In life it is so easy and so very common to blame others or the world around us for our problems.
Believe me,
I was professional at this.
This might feel good and be easier in the short term,
But in the long term this is a surefire way to give away all of your power to the outside world.
This blaming is what we call victim mentality,
Where we seek to be the victim in the story so we don't have to take responsibility for our part in it.
We can't control the outside world and other people,
But we can control our reaction to it.
So that's where the focus should be in my opinion.
So do you want to be the victim every time life doesn't go the way you want it to?
Or do you want to take full responsibility and take the hero's journey?
Here's some examples of victim mentality and how it can be reframed.
And one.
I'm middle aged and I'm not happy because my dad didn't love me the way I wanted.
This could be flipped to,
There's never been so many methods and avenues for healing emotional trauma.
The destiny of my happiness lies in my own hands.
Number two.
I can't get a promotion because the boss doesn't like me.
A more evolved way of thinking would be,
Why wait for a promotion when I have the sovereignty to start my own business?
Then I don't have to wait for a boss's approval.
Example three.
I have anxiety because the media expects me to be a certain way.
This could be reframed to,
The media doesn't influence me negatively because I love and accept myself fully no matter what.
I understand peace is attained within and not by external perceptions.
Whilst all of these quotes might have an element of truth and self compassion is of course important too,
I believe we should try to shift our perception and take back our power.
When we take a step back the vast,
Vast majority of the time there is something you can do personally to improve your situation and reclaim that inner power.
The great Ram Dass once said,
I can do nothing for you but work on myself.
You can do nothing for me but work on yourself.
And how right he is,
When we commit to developing ourselves above anything else,
People will naturally gravitate and learn from our wisdom,
Presence and being.
Each time we expand our consciousness we create a ripple effect.
The great Dr David Hawkins created an ingenious scale of consciousness from zero to 1000.
When we expand our consciousness by one on the scale,
Our consciousness actually rises tenfold,
Which subsequently has an amplifying effect on the collective consciousness.
So by growing our own self using this law,
It ripples out and affects others too.
This is proof of how powerful and important self work and self ownership is.
This is not to say don't help others,
Of course not,
But it all starts with yourself.
Fighting away our mental demons is what is often referred to as,
As I mentioned earlier,
The hero's journey.
These demons come in many forms,
Fears,
Trauma,
Jealousy,
Greed,
Hate.
The hero's journey I believe is one of the reasons many of us are here,
As a part of our souls development.
Although of course each path and the scenario on the path are so unique.
We raise our consciousness level during this process and elevate our being to new heights.
In which case,
Welcome these challenges that come your way with open arms.
I am not downplaying the hero's journey.
It takes a tremendous amount of courage,
Self honesty,
Commitment and full responsibility of every aspect of our life.
These attributes I believe live within us all.
It's just a matter of tapping into them.
A final beautiful quote from Martin Eber.
When we heal ourselves,
We heal the world.
To finish this meditation,
I ask you to contemplate an area in your life that you are not taking full responsibility for.
This could be an aspect in your relationships,
Your career,
Your physical well-being,
Your mental health or maybe your spiritual growth.
Anything at all where you feel you're not taking full ownership and responsibility for right now.
Think about how you can approach it differently and reclaim your power.
I will give you five minutes for this,
Plenty of time to contemplate.
If you already manage one area in this time,
Continue and tackle one or two other areas.
Or sit in peace for the remaining time.
Begin your five minutes now.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
You.
Your five minutes is now up.
I hope this guided meditation helps you on your path.
It sounds so cliche but everything you need is already inside you.
All my love and thank you for listening.
