Find a comfortable position for yourself.
For this meditation you can be sitting or lying down,
Whatever feels right to you today.
Be sure you have a quiet space where you'll be uninterrupted for a while.
When you close your eyes,
Begin to notice your breath.
Feel the ground,
The earth supporting you.
You are supported.
Let yourself relax into it.
Turning to the breath.
Inhale as deeply as you have all day.
And exhale audibly,
Releasing any tension you feel in your body.
Letting go of the stresses of the day.
With each breath,
Let go a little bit more.
And allow yourself to be completely present in this space.
Inhale and exhale a few more times at your own pace,
Trusting that you are supported right where you are.
Today,
We are connecting with our inner child.
This is a safe space to explore.
Invite your inner child to come into the space.
Continue to breathe as you picture this younger self,
This part of you.
As the image of your child self becomes clearer,
Observe them.
What do they look like?
How old are they?
What is our general energy or expression?
Take your time.
Be gentle.
If you want,
You can imagine approaching them on their level.
Maybe extending a hand or just saying hello.
Take a few moments to sit with your inner child,
Feeling completely supported and at ease in their presence so that they can feel completely supported and at ease in yours.
Consider how you show up as this child in your life.
Where do you take on their experiences,
Emotions,
Traumas,
Or joys?
Or maybe they don't show up anywhere and they feel like a stranger.
Sometimes we lose track of our inner child with overwhelming responsibilities of adulthood.
Turn to them now and ask.
You can ask out loud if you feel comfortable or just in your mind.
What do you need to feel secure?
What do you need to feel loved?
Where can I show up better for you?
Take some time to listen for the answers.
They may not come today.
They may take time.
But let your inner child know you are here and want to hear whatever they have to share with you.
You can ask out loud if you feel comfortable or just in your mind.
Responding to the expressed needs of our inner child,
Sometimes called re-parenting.
We all have parents and all parents are human.
All humans mess up.
Most parents did the best they could,
Where they were,
With the tools they had,
And with the extent that their own inner child was able to be expressed and explored.
You're likely familiar with the saying,
Hurt people,
Hurt people.
Right now,
By choosing this meditation,
Choosing this moment,
You are telling the universe you want to break this pattern.
You're telling your inner child that you're here now,
That they're safe,
And that you're ready to learn from them.
If you haven't ever connected with this part of yourself,
Where you've been unkind to your inner child and acted out of hurt and closed yourself off to joy,
Forgive yourself.
You were doing the best you could,
Where you were,
With the tools you had.
Your inner child knows this.
It's the inner child that gets us close to unconditional love.
They hold nothing against you.
They just want to be seen and acknowledged in all their pain and joy.
Take a moment to say,
I see you,
To that child,
Even if their image is a little foggy still,
Even if they're still a bit obscured or hidden.
Let them know it's safe to come out.
Let them know they are loved and supported.
Take your inner child now for being your teacher and allow them to return.
And thank yourself for showing up today to begin the miraculous process of re-parenting.
And I thank you for allowing me to walk alongside you on this healing journey.
Go forward today,
A little bit more childlike,
A little bit more full of wonder and joy.
