Cultivation Of Safe Embodiment
This is a guided meditation into the experience of being in a body that is free from fear or ill-will. Ajahn invites us to free ourselves from restrictions, obstacles and toxicity, to instead open into complete presence and seek to establish a deep connection within.

Setting up for the day.
First checking in.
This is like checking but it's also like a birth into this come out of a particular realm.
Coming into another realm which we acknowledge we're in something other than ourselves.
It's very well now.
Sleep we were just in that and now we're aware of an otherness.
It's like a very early,
Almost like a birth experience.
Not a lot of definition in it.
Not a lot of object definition,
Just a sense of this here.
What is it around me?
As you've been chanting,
Listening,
Aware of sounds from others around us and welcoming sounds.
Steady resonance.
Taking some of that,
The advantage of that,
All that is around me,
Whatever I am.
Free from constrictions,
Free from obstacles,
Free from ill will.
I can open into that,
Chant,
Make my presence,
Express my presence in that way.
There's no obstruction,
No holding back in that.
It's open,
Unobstructed.
Getting a feeling for that.
And what is around me,
I participate in freely.
In the benevolent realm.
Whatever is here that I call me,
Mine,
This location.
We're not in a hurry to pick up the idea of our body,
The visual impression of it,
If we carry as a kind of map.
This doesn't mean a hurry to think about hands and face and so on.
A sense of this something solid here,
This and space,
Within space,
We sense space around because this quality feels unobstructed.
There's nothing pressing it down,
Squashing it or obstructing it.
You can feel it swelling and subsiding rhythmically.
And again,
Just go back to the sense of having a center of all this.
Doesn't really,
Don't have to name even a part of your anatomy,
But just the sense of center.
Is there any kind of center to this experience,
This embodiment?
Verticality,
Width,
Span,
Sense of boundary,
Center.
Not a pinpoint center,
But just the vague sense perhaps of,
Yeah,
Someone in the middle of all this.
And feel comfortable with that,
That's yours.
May this be well.
This is the gift,
Value it,
You have a,
There's a center,
Unobstructed,
Rested.
And again,
Breathing out,
Feeling this sense of swelling into the space around you and then returning,
Relaxing back to the center.
Sense is the most comfortable place,
Most assured,
Steady place.
Put aside the anatomy,
The visual map,
Sense in all this experience of having substance and warmth,
Having a location.
May this be well,
And free from obstructions,
Pressures,
Agitation,
Compulsions.
Abide in the naturalness of that.
May feel aware of breathing,
With the rhythm of it.
Any aspect of that,
Say the quality of breathing out or releasing and drawing in.
And put aside the anatomy,
This is simple,
Two-part,
Expanding to the space around,
A tiny,
Tiny,
Tiny expansion and returning,
Feeling back to the center.
May this be unhurried,
Easeful,
Just what it wants to be.
It's fast,
Slow,
Doesn't matter,
Just let it be what it wants to be,
How it is.
Even downshift the experience of observation to something more,
Perhaps even more dreamy,
Allowing it to happen,
Allowing breathing in,
Breathing out to be as it is,
As if you're listening,
Feeling,
Not really observing at all.
Somewhere in the background,
You can rest on it.
Most of you are perhaps aware of the quality of ease,
Most important.
Let know there be no stress for this one.
The space around you is welcoming you,
Reminding you to relax,
Take your time,
Find your center,
Rest in your center,
Let yourself be breathed however it is.
Downshift the act of observation.
Any participation should be just one of,
May this be well,
Comfortable,
Could you get more comfortable,
Make that your response to this,
Rather than observing it,
Protecting it,
Just like it's a little one,
You're just protecting it,
Soothing it,
Warming to it.
Let's incline your awareness towards the quality of goodwill and gladness.
This beautiful thing is here,
Living,
Concerned for its welfare,
So it might be,
Does it need to breathe in more,
Less,
Does it need more space?
What is beautiful,
Comfortable now for this being here,
With its aliveness,
Its breathing in-ness,
Its breathing out,
Its presence,
You don't have any answers if you're just giving it permission,
Wanting it to move,
Open,
Quiet,
Expand,
Whatever,
To make itself feel more comfortable,
More steady,
More established.
Just like a caring parent,
Be on the lookout for any diseases that may be in the atmosphere,
Be infecting,
Be hovering.
So is the disease of ill will,
Of withholding goodwill,
Of expecting it to conform,
Expecting it to be regular,
Wanting it to behave,
Meditate,
Something.
As soon as there's these pressures,
Discard,
Ward off the disease,
Dispel,
Remove,
Let it be as it is,
Trust it.
Replace law and order with warmth,
Love,
And interest in how it is.
How is it?
Ward off,
Dispel,
Remove the pressure,
Let it be clear or precise or constant.
It is these hovering clouds of expectation that can sweep over.
Any aspect of this presence that seems to be holding back or pushing,
Can you encourage it to trust the center,
Let it be as it is,
Unusual,
Fresh,
Different,
Or simple?
.
The atmosphere of goodwill,
Encouragement,
Downshift,
The observation,
And to be not very precise.
The relationship,
Encourage,
Permission,
Allowing,
Fondness,
And interest.
Be interested.
How does it want to be?
What would be?
What is this?
And what's for this welfare?
Would feel beautiful or good.
And doesn't have to be any word that states that it's not up for you to decide.
Let's just see about the invitation.
So the space allows you to move if you need,
If that feels helpful,
To stand.
To roll your jaw or open your eyes,
Just whatever settling into the day.
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
Who is interested in how this becomes more settled?
So in the next few minutes or few at a time as you see fit,
Let's get interested in the boundaries.
Your sense of having an edge.
So begin with beneath.
Can you settle in that really resting?
Relying on feeling that what's beneath you,
Your lower boundary is free from any resistance.
It is happy,
It is receiving you very clearly,
Lower boundary,
Free from any trace of resistance.
Comfortable,
Settling.
Notice any change that may occur in that in line with breathing out and breathing in.
Extend your interest,
What is behind.
Extend from the base on up to the anterior,
Or the posterior,
The behind.
Noting any trace of resistance or retracting,
Spreading,
Relaxing,
Opening,
Feeling the presence comfortable behind.
Very assured.
From the bottom to the top,
Light scan.
If it doesn't feel that way.
Notice that,
Be aware of that,
Have compassion for that.
Don't try to make it okay if it isn't okay,
Just be aware of that and sense of compassion,
Goodwill,
Giving it time.
Above,
That is the space above you,
Above you,
Open.
Allow yourself to rise into that,
Feel comfortable in that.
And finally,
The front,
From the base on up,
Sense of warmth,
Protection,
Whatever you feel is,
Makes that boundary feel settled.
Wholeheartedly,
Feel it.
And begin to open the sense doors,
Sense of touch.
Beginning with hands,
Ending your body,
Come back,
Anatomy starts to form.
Hands,
Skin,
Hands.
Tingling of the skin,
Sense of the strength in the lower body,
The spine.
The legs.
Building up the head,
Just as a single head,
Not the details of the face,
Just the sense of the top of the body.
Letting the face be anonymous at the moment.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Gently letting the eyelids draw back and being aware of there is seeing,
The visual field.
But not needing any particular detail,
Just the overall sense of vision.
There is the seeing.
And then we start to move into action,
Simply the sound of the bell.
Bell.
Bell.

The guidance was always relevant to the experience of the moment. I am a senior citizen traveling in Europe, experiencing a lot of resistance to the difference in the necessities of planning and expense from previous, much easier times. But even more troubling is my disappointment in myself after years of meditation being so dependent on circumstances working out. Accessing compassion is often forgotten here. There were good reminders. Thank you.

Wow that was amazing. One of the deepest meditation sits I have ever had. Although I was sitting and feeling my body sit, it felt like I was floating too. Thank you for you kind and gentle instruction. Amazing. 🙏☮️❣️
