Hello Yogi,

Welcome to my podcast.

I'm Aiko and on this show we explore ways to put spiritual theory into sustainable practice.

Hi everyone,

Welcome again to my podcast.

I'm doing a short series where I talk about our inner seasons.

We first talk about how important it is to chart our menstrual cycle and this is the first step in order to connect with it because in this way we will see if we are in some kind of pattern where often similar things are happening during the same days of our cycle.

So after that we talk about our inner winter which is the menstruation phase and in this phase you can figure it out what no longer serves you and get rid of it.

It's like the end but also at the same time a new beginning and things that used to make you frustrated don't have the same power in winter so you are less likely to feel attached to anyone or anything so you have this ability to detach in this phase of your inner season.

So this episode is all about our inner spring,

So our follicular phase.

At pre-ovulation it's also pre-ovulation because then in our inner summer we have devulation.

So in this phase you have memory,

Logic and reasoning.

You start waking up towards outside while winter was all about to be inward,

Now the spring it's more about waking up,

Going outside and it's very helpful to think also about the seasons of the year.

Then if you observe them you can easily understand also how those seasons are moving inside us.

So this memory and logic enable you to completely understand projects and people and you also have the ability to drive and realize your ideas.

So it's really a kind of awakening towards the external world.

You are more available for social engagements and are more able to be seen and to voice your opinion.

In this season also you have the mental and physical energy to work longer and get your things done.

Spring is a season of new beginning,

Rejuvenation and expansion.

In this phase you are negotiating your way out of your inner winters deep inwardness and into the full manifestation of yourself in your inner summer.

And all the aspects of all the seasons are about ourselves.

It's all about learning who we really are and go more inwards but in this way we can also be more ourselves outward.

There is a lot of goodness in your inner spring.

You live in a world of possibility and hope and you have a natural drive and focus as well as a fun side.

The sacred work of cherishing yourself will assist you in accessing your inner spring's gifts.

It's crucial to approach the inner spring as well as yourself with care and respect.

So the key here in your inner spring in order to better live this season within yourself is to learn to cherish.

Cherish yourself first and then of course everything around.

There is a delicacy,

Tenderness and appreciation within that protected circle of cherishing.

There is something so subtle and exact about it that you can really see your own uniqueness.

The doshas for this season is kappa and reflect with the moon phase of waxing moon.

Let's see again your inner power.

So you kind of got the general idea of your power during your inner spring so now we list the specific inner power that you might have during this spring.

So our tenderness,

Innocence,

Desire,

Focus,

Assertiveness,

Containment,

Surging energy,

Curiosity,

Motivation,

Playfulness,

Imagination,

Positivity.

So these are all beautiful inner powers that you can have during this inner spring if you learn to express it,

To live with it and to go with the energy and with your menstrual cycle.

So your inner spring is a space where things change because we are moving from winter to summer.

So your inner spring is filled with kindness to aid you in your quest.

The inner yes you might feel as the energy increases,

A yes to yourself,

To life is perhaps the most important.

You live in a universe of opportunity and hope and you have a natural drive,

Concentration.

It's the power that propels you out the door to take a new challenge before you are ready.

So allow yourself to truly feel the emergence of new life without acting racially on it all at once,

Allowing it to blow your fuses.

The goal is to stay stationary in the face of this mounting charge,

Allowing you to experiment and play without getting swept away.

We say that reflects the energy of the waxy moon and it's very,

If you know something about the energy of the waxy moon and you see what I just said you will realize that it's just so extremely similar,

Like the waxy moon is an excellent time to get motivated,

Commit to your goals and put your plans into action.

If the elements of earth and water are not balanced,

During this season you will feel more hungry,

Tired and you will feel also a more heavy sleep.

This is because we are moving into a detoxification process that started with menstruation and now we carry the heaviness of the winter.

Your inner spring is a place of becoming,

You are in transit as we say from the deep interiority of your inner winter and negotiating your way to the full expression of yourself in your inner summer.

You are firming up your sense of identity,

Getting more and more comfortable in the sacred art of being you.

So for this inner season we will move a little bit faster,

Like inner winter was slow movement but trying to push a little bit outside the comfort zone to keep the poses for a little longer.

Now we will move a little faster and we will focus on twists which really help the body detoxing.

Two pranayamas that are very helpful for balancing the kapha dosha during our inner spring are surya bheda and kapala bhati.

Surya bheda is very simple and if some of you is familiar with pranayama I am pretty much sure you already tried before,

Is the breathing exercise where you breathe in with one nostril and you breathe out with the other.

And then I suggest also kapala bhati which activates our fire inside.

With this pranayama we push through our belly,

We kind of breathe out strongly pushing so in this way we stimulate all the organs and there are a lot of nerves going through our torso so they get also activated and this help the detoxing process of the entire body.

As yoga asanas I suggest the chamatkara asana and of course this is already like intermediate advanced pose so any other variation are totally fine.

As krishna macharya always says yoga is adapting to us,

You don't have to adapt to yoga,

There is not such a perfect pose or perfect asana,

We always have to go and feel our body and move accordingly.

And surya namaskar,

Surya namaskar is just very very powerful if you do it everyday,

I try to do it everyday during the all seasons but if you are not that fun of surya namaskar then at least try to do it during the spring because it is really complete and it moves all the chakras and the energy levels and meridians in our body.

Subta,

Matsyasanandrasana and parivarita utkatanasana as mentioned already in other episodes during the spring we want to put a little more attention into twist so parivarita means twist,

All the asanas that have parivarita are very good for this inner season and also asanas that involves our toes or feet because you know the end of all our meridians are there and it is very very nice to keep them moved and activated during this detoxification process.

Usually I only start with some pranayama then some stretches,

I usually do fascial stretches,

I will make a course about that,

You can find it on my website,

It is not ready yet.

And then move with some toes or feet asanas like for example the chatvari padanguli urdva and then we move with a lot of asanas that flex and bend our hips,

In this way we massage all the internal organs so katankau,

Adhumukhasvanasana who is my student knows,

I love this pose,

It is one of my favorites.

So prasarita padutanasana,

Leg stretch pose,

Ardhamatyasindrasana which is also twist,

What else?

Yeah all these poses are very very helpful and are supporting our detox process during our inner spring.

If you are more interested into these topics and you want to learn how to do yoga during your following your inner seasons I will make a free workshop at the end of October so you can simply subscribe to my newsletter and you will get notified about it.
