Springtime Dawn On The Selati River
Early morning recording between 4:30 AM and 6:15 AM next to the Selati River in the Greater Kruger Park. Nighttime birds like the Fiery-necked Nightjar and Scops Owlet slowly give way to a host of daytime birds like the Red-chested Cuckoo with its incessant call that is characteristic of springtime in Africa. The contact call of a single lioness can be heard between 25 and 26 minutes into the recording. Cicada choruses can be heard to ebb and flow as different species start to call.
