Hello and welcome to today's practice.
When is enough enough?
When do we choose something different?
We tend to ruminate and hold on to things.
We tend to overanalyze and overthink what other people think about us.
We tend to overthink what we think about ourselves.
We're often doing much more than we actually need to.
Enough really can be enough.
You may be listening because you've chosen that enough is enough for you or you might need a holding hand to find that place.
I found considering enough very challenging.
There was always more to do,
More to achieve,
More things to have or create or just more.
There was never enough.
And actually what that brought was a sense of persistent unease or worry or a feeling that you're just not good enough.
That is not true.
Our mind thinks like that,
Automatically running through things that we think we should be doing or achieving or gaining.
That is just our mind.
So this practice is to draw the line in the sand for yourself,
For what was,
What will be,
And what is right now.
It's a practice to say enough is enough.
And in many ways,
This is a moment by moment practice in life to give ourselves the opportunity to be free.
I find that using open awareness is a good tool for helping us understand and let go of being enough.
So I'm going to offer you some ideas to think about how to deal with this and how to offer yourself freedom.
And you can say it along with me.
You can just listen as we go through it.
Take a deep breath in and a relaxing breath out the mouth.
Find yourself with your straight back,
Your straight back,
The crown of the head to the sky,
Your chin slightly tucked.
Enough is enough.
Enough mea culpa.
Thank you,
Remorse.
Thank you for trying to protect me.
I'm okay right now.
Enough worry.
Thank you.
Thank you for trying to protect me.
I'm okay right now.
Enough anxiousness.
Thank you,
Anxiousness.
Thank you for trying to protect me.
I'm okay right now.
Enough anger.
Thank you,
Anger.
Thank you for trying to protect me,
But I'm okay right now.
Enough sadness.
Thank you,
Sadness.
Thank you for trying to protect me,
But I'm okay right now.
Enough want.
Thank you,
Want.
Thank you for trying to protect me,
But I'm okay right now.
Thinking through these with open awareness enables us to impartially see that enough is enough.
That we don't have to have these wants or these feelings or these anxieties that sit with us every day.
Enough I'm not good enough.
Enough comparison.
Enough holding on.
Enough clinging to the path you feel or you felt or you were told you should be on.
Enough wanting for a future that isn't here yet.
We can say thank you to these things that have held us for so long.
Thank you for being there.
Thank you for trying to protect me.
I'm okay right now.
So to finish off,
We'll have a couple of affirmations that help us ground ourselves into knowing that enough is enough.
Place a hand on your chest and one hand on your belly,
Feeling your breath in and out of your body.
I want you to think of something simple that brings comfort.
Think of winter and how just a simple scarf can make you feel comfortable.
Or in the summer,
How a cool breeze can make you feel comfortable and bring you relief.
Think of those.
Think of that relief it brings.
Very small,
Definitely enough.
With your hand on your heart,
Your belly,
I want you to repeat after me.
I am enough.
I am enough.
Am enough.
Thank you for joining me today.
Remember,
You are enough.
You have enough.
You have enough.
And enough really can be enough.
Have a wonderful day.
