Welcome to Active Meditation.
In this meditation,
We move to our wheel of consciousness and reset ourselves after experiencing events we did not expect.
Prepare for meditation by moving into a comfortable position.
Relax your physical body.
Inhale a few deep breaths.
Let the body relax completely by having the exhale be longer than the inhale.
Allow the muscles of the face and jaw to relax.
Remove all expression from your face.
Let go of the tension in the shoulders.
Relax all the way down to the toes.
With each breath exhaled,
A wave of relaxation spreads throughout the body.
We relax our mind and emotions by letting go,
By taking another deep breath.
Allow your inner peace and quiet awareness to arise.
Suspend your worries and concerns for this meditation.
As we enter this more peaceful state,
Our awareness continues to move higher,
To a more subtle level.
We are mindful that there is a deep presence within us of wisdom and goodwill,
A quieter awareness that is able to observe all but is not emotional.
We are the silent witness,
Aware of our assorted memories,
Ideas,
And beliefs,
And our ability to stand apart from them.
Aware that we are not just our thoughts and memories.
We are the thinker,
The creator of thoughts and ideas.
We are the observer,
Aware that we are more than our emotions.
We are the creator of emotions.
We are the organizer,
The one who uses emotions to express our kindness and friendliness.
Resting in this detached state of being,
Be conscious of a great benevolent power,
Quietly surrounding us,
Always present to support the best in us,
Always present to nourish our needs,
Our energy,
Guidance,
And emotional support.
To help this process of detachment,
Let's recall the image of the slowly spinning wheel.
We stand in the very center of this wheel,
Watching outer events,
Slowly turning about us at a distance at the edge of our wheel.
We watch our emotions and our thoughts slowly swirling around us.
How we remain unmoving,
Quietly observing outer changes,
Outer disturbances at a distance at the edge of our wheel.
As we place ourselves in this focal point in the center of our wheel,
We appreciate that this position also connects us with the power,
Understanding,
The life and love of our higher self.
We strengthen our bond with these powers by relaxing more and being grateful for the opportunity to improve this connection.
Let's take a few moments to be reacquainted with this connection.
It is already present and building.
We allow these energies to quietly add themselves.
To our thoughts,
Feelings,
Desires,
And memories at the edge of our wheel.
We sense the enriching and renewing power of our higher self.
We recognize that with this detached awareness in the center of our wheel,
We have access to the power and insight that can free us from outer distress,
Outer discouragement,
And resentment.
Be aware of the calm presence that fills you as you quietly observe the outer world slowly spinning about you,
As you rest in the very center of your awareness.
We appreciate the significance of this outer world.
It is here where we have our physical lives,
Our careers,
And important relationships.
It is here where we focus our love and render our service.
It is here where we ground our spiritual service in appropriate activities.
As we view all this with our inner eyes,
We appreciate that the vitality that animates us comes from our inner life of spirit.
Our ability to be creative,
To become aware of new ideas,
And to implement them,
Also arises from this inner source in us.
Our ability to love and serve our God and fellow humans also stems from this inner life.
Although our investment in important outer activities may be frustrated from time to time,
This inner stream of life,
Awareness,
And love is unbroken.
Although outer events may disappoint us,
We can always return to this inner life for renewal,
And if necessary,
To revise and restart some of our plans and expectations.
Although the stable elements of our life can sometimes be disrupted,
And what we have come to expect may disappear,
We have an inner life force that is intelligent and resourceful.
It can help to restore us,
And with it,
Our productivity and confidence.
As we come to realize and activate our innate powers,
To think creatively and take control of ourselves,
We appreciate that our inner life will work through our deep humanitarian values and urges.
These are the more immediate sources of guidance and power that will direct us beyond the frustrations and indecisions of our personality.
These are the more immediate sources of confidence and joy and love that will sustain us through troublesome and confusing times.
While our personality may sometimes feel lost and without purpose,
Our inner life will always know what we stand for,
What is meaningful,
And that our life has value and purpose,
Even when our personality fails to see it clearly.
Despite our personality's occasional despair,
Our life always has value and usefulness.
In times of great distress,
Our inner heart is always at peace,
And our deep spiritual will can be called forth to provide the strength and the comfort we need.
Our spirit can reveal the clarity of its purpose and an abundance of confidence that is created as we resume our alliance with our spiritual core.
Behind our personality's confusion and doubt,
Our inner spirit is always calm,
Is always certain of our purpose,
Is always ready to surround us in peace and joy,
To re-establish the conviction that our life has value and significance.
As we take up this perspective on life,
We can sense this power flowing quietly into us,
Into our values,
Into our urge to live a life at the outer level that is useful and fulfilling.
Our spirit has designed us to thrive and to fulfill our purpose on earth.
Let us rest in this deep realization of our core purpose and strength.
Let this power flow through us,
Into our mind,
Our hearts,
And our daily activities in the outer world.
Let us reset our emotions and thinking in harmony with the wisdom,
Power,
And love of our Higher Self.
Let us rest in dignity and goodwill.
Let peace flow in and through us.
Don't be silent.
Let peace flow in and through us.
It is good to remember how we have experienced many disappointing and frustrating setbacks in our life.
Each time we learned to reset our thinking and attitudes,
To adapt to these major changes,
To find new approaches,
New methods,
New directions.
Each time we recovered to some degree.
Over the years we have made much progress.
We have made many improvements in our understanding and skills.
While we learn from our experiences and the example of others,
We really are activating our inner life and its wisdom to guide us.
In effect,
Outer events both difficult and successful trigger insights and new powers from our inner life.
It is time to return to our regular state of thoughts,
Feelings,
And actions.
To time and space.
And as we do this,
We know that we have made significant progress in developing a working relationship with our Higher Self.
Take a few deep breaths to establish the waking state.
I am aware.
I am.
