Our contact with our friends in spirit will be more significant if we ask questions about our interests and curiosity. To some degree, they need our requests to provide full support. Of course, there are limits to this support. Our friends in spirit can assist us with information and energy, but they cannot be expected to do what we should do for ourselves. We must become self-reliant. Ask questions. Answers may come immediately or arise later (similar to delayed dream recall).

Welcome to Active Meditation.

In this meditation,

We return to the Garden of Tranquility,

To meet an old and dear friend.

In preparation for meditation,

We first settle down our physical body by making sure that it is comfortable and relaxed.

We do this by taking a few deep breaths and visualizing the excess energy leaving the body with the exhale breath.

I will pause while we also make sure that our out-breaths are slightly longer than our in-breaths.

In addition,

We can improve our relaxation by removing all expression from our face.

Next,

We calm our mind.

We acknowledge and let go of any current annoyances or worries.

This clears our consciousness to be more open to new experiences.

We can always return to these outer issues and concerns,

If necessary,

After our meditation.

Do this now.

Let go of any immediate concerns or worries.

I will pause while you do this.

Next,

We calm our mind.

We let go of any current annoyances or worries.

We let go of any inner worries.

We let go of any inner worries.

Next,

Move through the self-inquiry detachment process by asking,

Who am I?

We have a physical body,

And our body changes from moment to moment,

While our higher self continues as the silent witness,

Observing the body.

It is obvious we have a body,

But we are not just a physical body.

We are something far greater.

Who are we?

We have emotions and feelings,

And they also change as our higher self endures,

Observing all our emotions.

We have emotions.

We are not our emotions.

The real I is far more.

Ask,

Who am I?

We have desires and urges.

They also change from time to time.

Again,

Our higher self,

The part of us that knows I am,

Carries on,

Observing with detachment all these differing and changing desires.

We have desires and urges,

But we are not our desires.

We are far greater.

Ask yourself,

Who am I?

In our life,

We engage in many activities and perform many roles.

However,

We are not just an actor playing a role.

Our higher self is meant to be the director of the action in our life.

So who are we?

We have an intellect that thinks,

But these thoughts fluctuate.

While our thoughts vary and change,

The real I continues as the quiet witness that observes and is capable of directing our thoughts.

We have thoughts.

We are not our ideas or thoughts.

Our higher self is far greater.

We are centers of consciousness,

Points of awareness,

Universal,

Timeless,

Omnipresent.

We exist in the ocean of light and life that surrounds us as a vast,

Benevolent white light.

And as it shines,

It appears to grow brighter and brighter until it shines right through us.

And as it passes through us,

We glow and begin to radiate this peaceful light as well.

And we comprehend that this ocean of light and life is a true universal mentor to every one of us.

And now it's time to meet our special friend in the Garden of Tranquility.

Let's return to the peaceful forest and start moving up the path to make our way to the entrance gate at our garden.

Take your time.

I will meet you there.

We are above the clouds and standing in front of the entrance gate to the Garden of Tranquility.

When we see the gate,

We are reminded to remove our intellectual assumptions.

We take off our intellect as if we are removing a hat and hang it on a hook near the gate.

Set your intellect aside now.

Hang it on the hook.

You will want to pick it up later on your way out.

Now that we have parked our intellect,

We proceed to open the gate and enter the garden.

Walk through.

Close the gate.

We begin down the path to our special place near the stream.

We remember how safe we feel in this garden.

As we arrive at our special spot,

We breathe in the energy of this garden.

And again notice how calm we are,

How clear our thinking has become,

How peaceful and comfortable we are.

We are aware of a very powerful clarity of consciousness and we are extremely alert.

We are more conscious of our strengths and abilities.

We are aware of our inner life and our capacity to appreciate and work with our higher self.

Now we will meet an individual that we call an invisible friend who can help us in working with our own higher intelligence.

Invisible friends are genuine personalities,

Real beings,

Even though it may not seem that way.

They are old and dear friends who simply live on another plane of existence.

They have a finer body to communicate on that level of life.

They live permanently in what we call the inner levels of awareness and therefore they are in a good position to help us here.

Our old companion is a clear channel for higher intelligence and can be trusted.

Trusted to help us become more proficient at accessing our own higher intelligence.

Trusted to help us be more skillful in employing the energy,

Power,

And love from the ocean of light and life.

Trusted to help us become more comfortable at utilizing the resources of our garden of tranquility.

Our old friend is enthusiastic about becoming reunited with us so that we can work together again.

Invisible friends often must have our permission and our request for assistance before they can help us.

This is why it is good to become more familiar with them.

This friend has been with us a long time,

Probably since our birth,

And truly has a beautiful presence as we will soon discover.

The quality that unites us is unconditional affection and the love and respect that our higher self has for them.

So our meeting will have the atmosphere of a reunion.

In a few moments,

Our friend will walk down the garden path and approach us.

We will be in their presence shortly,

And we will also see them in some degree of clarity or feel or sense them in some other way.

The important thing is that you will be able to communicate as we interact with our friends.

It is the transmission of knowledge that is important.

This can occur at the level of non-verbalized ideas,

Images,

Thoughts,

Or feelings,

As well as words and clear visual pictures.

With this in mind,

In a moment our principal friend and mentor will be walking down the path.

They will then stop and just stand in front of us.

We will be in the presence of our main friend and advisor.

This is an old and dear friend,

Extremely intelligent,

Who wants to be of assistance and help us.

So to aid in establishing a closer bond,

We will now bring them into our awareness.

Approaching now,

Walking on the path towards us,

Coming closer and closer.

And when we are recognized,

Stop,

Standing on the path right in front of us.

Use your imagination here to help visualize your old friend.

We are in the presence now.

Are they male or female?

Consider their overall contour.

Height.

Weight.

What do the clothes look like?

What country?

What period of history seems most appropriate?

We are in the presence now.

Look at the face.

Take in the features.

Study the contours of the nose.

Cheeks.

Chin.

Shape and color of the eyes.

Get some idea of the skin color and hair color.

Now invite them to come over,

Closer.

They may reach out,

Shake hands,

Or initiate contact in some other way.

We are in our friend's presence now.

We can sense this.

Perhaps better than we can see or feel.

Now just stay relaxed,

Calm,

And aware while we ask a few questions mentally.

Ask what indication should be used to represent them.

This can be a verbal name,

Or an image,

Or a symbol.

An odor,

A color,

Or anything else,

Or the personal code.

Ask about what period of history,

And what country your friend is from.

See what sort of impression you get about this.

You can also ask if there was any previous association with you in another time.

Now ask,

Why are they with you?

What can they do for you?

What sort of feeling or impression do you get about this?

Just be calm,

And tune in.

This is an old and valued friend.

And now ask if there is anything else more to see,

Or to know about the Garden of Tranquility.

Just relax,

And be receptive for impressions about some of the things that can be done in our Garden of Tranquility.

Now ask if there is anyone else from this plane of awareness and existence that they wish to introduce to you.

If so,

Then we can briefly pause for this additional friend to come down the path,

Much more swiftly this time.

If no one appears,

Use the time to communicate with your friend.

I will pause.

Keep in mind that communication often occurs as fragments,

Or thoughts,

Flashes of images,

Feelings,

And impressions.

However,

The basic wavelength of this communication seems to be one of neutral trust and affection.

In this mood,

Receptivity is better.

The more you trust,

The clearer the message.

Now take some time for further discussion.

We will be leaving in a few moments.

These are our friends.

Who desire to help us become more aware of our wonderful powers and abilities.

They also can help in many practical ways.

The assistance that they render can occur more easily,

And to a greater degree,

If we ask for this help,

With a feeling of trust and affection that we ordinarily feel for any good and trusted friend.

From now on,

Our friends will be present in our garden of tranquility most of the time.

They will also be with us many other times whenever we have a need for information,

Counseling,

Guidance,

Or counseling.

Now,

Our friends will accompany us as we begin to move towards the gate,

Heading back to space and time.

As we begin to walk to the gate,

We remind ourselves not to forget our intellect,

Which we have parked outside the gate for this exercise.

As we get near to the gate,

We say goodbye to our friend.

We look forward to spending more time with them on our next return to the garden.

Approach the entry gate.

Walk through and close the gate.

Find the hook.

Pick up and put on the hat that symbolizes the intellect.

We need our intellect to think about and reflect upon our meditation.

We start down the path for our return to time and space.

We are on our way now,

Down the hill,

Slowly sinking into the clouds,

Moving through the clouds,

Thicker and thicker,

Lower,

Down,

Finally out of the clouds and back into the dense forest.

And we continue down the path,

Preparing to return.

Now that we have made real contact with the higher level of consciousness,

The real I Am,

Our higher self,

It will be easy to return to this level of awareness by recalling the memory of this state.

And every time we make an effort to do this,

We will find it easier to accomplish and we will achieve a more effective and powerful level.

Let's return to our regular waking state of thoughts,

Feelings and actions,

To time and space.

And as we do this,

We know that our personality has made progress in developing a working relationship with our higher self,

The conscious presence.

So take a few deep breaths to help establish the waking state.

And return,

Fully alert,

Comfortable in all instruments of awareness,

With the heightened awareness of our environment and the knowledge I Am aware.
