Welcome to active meditation.
In this meditation we prepare for sleep by detaching from and relaxing our instruments of awareness,
Our physical,
Emotional and mental bodies.
We then move into attunement to our higher self and immersion in the ocean of light and life.
We begin by acknowledging that we have a physical body,
But this body changes from moment to moment.
The body can be tired or rested,
Sick or healthy,
While our higher self,
The real I,
Continues as the silent witness,
Observing the body.
When we would like our body to rest,
To prepare for sleep,
We can direct our whole body to relax completely and stay that way until we need to use it again.
To relax,
We visualize and direct our attention to the air space surrounding our head and body.
Then just breathe out and let go of all the excess muscle and nervous tension with every exhale.
Send it away.
Let the muscles of your scalp relax and discharge any excess muscle energy through the exhaled breath.
We let our eyes relax.
Just let the very eyeballs feel loose.
Let the jaw hang loose.
Let all expression leave your face.
Every time we exhale,
We can feel the tension leave and a sense of peace and relaxation comes over us.
Let go.
Even more.
Continue to visualize the airspace that surrounds our head and body.
Direct attention to the space about our neck.
Relax this area completely and allow this relaxation to spread to the chest.
Each time we breathe out,
This comfortable feeling of peace and contentment grows and grows.
Even the very cells inside the chest are comfortable.
Focus on the space about the abdomen,
The back,
And spine.
Let go of the tension there.
Just breathe it away.
Out with the tension,
In with peaceful relaxation.
And feel this relaxation spreading throughout the whole body.
And we direct our attention to our legs,
Our thighs,
Knees,
And calves.
And we let this comfortable feeling spread downward,
Right down to the soles of our feet.
Our breathing pumps out the excess tension and allows the body to relax.
We let go of the excess tension to allow our body to adjust to a perfect state of relaxation.
Let this muscle energy go.
Relax.
We can see the entire airspace that surrounds our body.
Feel this pleasant glow of relaxation and let it saturate the whole body,
Even the very cells themselves.
We can now complete the relaxation of our whole body by sending away the remaining muscle energy,
As if we are a full glass that is filled to overflowing,
With the excess liquid in it running over and out the top of the glass.
We are aware that we are something greater than just our body.
We have emotions and feelings,
But they also change from moment to moment.
We can be angry or peaceful,
Depressed or happy,
Anxious or relaxed.
While our higher self,
The permanent I am,
Continues unchanged as the observer of all these emotions.
And we have desires and ambitions to do things,
But these also change from time to time.
We may want one thing now and dislike it later.
Our mental desires and emotional desires can conflict at times and agree with others.
We can see that we are not our emotions,
Our feelings or our desires.
To prepare for sleep,
We let go of any current annoyances or worries that occupy our mind.
We can always return to these concerns if necessary when we wake up.
Do this now.
Let go of any emotional concerns or worries or unfulfilled desires.
I will wait while you do this.
We utilize and intellect the things,
But these thoughts fluctuate.
Sometimes they are correct.
Other times they are wrong.
They may even conflict with one another or be at odds with our feelings and desires.
While our thoughts vary and change,
Our higher self,
The real I,
Continues from moment to moment as the same silent witness that watches over and is capable of directing our thoughts.
Just as we can relax the body and park it in place to prepare for sleep,
We can also park our intellect temporarily.
It is as if we can take off our intellect,
Just as we might remove a hat and simply set it aside for a while.
Of course our intellect will still be here and we will pick it back up when we awaken.
As we absorb the energy,
Knowledge,
And love of our higher self,
We are aware that our consciousness continues in other ways,
With other means,
Than just our intellect.
Let's remove our intellect,
The thoughts that are occupying our mind.
Take off the intellect as if we are removing a hat.
Do this now.
Set the intellect aside.
Put it beside you.
Pick up later when we wake up.
Now that our intellect has parked,
We ask ourselves,
Who am I?
And we acknowledge,
I am a center of consciousness,
A point of awareness in an ocean of light and life.
This is the part of my being that is neither born nor died.
It is neither male or female.
It has no race,
No color,
No concept.
It is that part of my being that exists prior to,
During,
And after a thought,
A feeling,
A sensation,
Or a perception.
It is this center of consciousness,
This immortal essence,
That provides a sense of existence and enables me to know I am.
I am aware.
The universal,
Timeless,
Omnipresent part of my being,
My higher self,
My conscious,
Permanent presence,
That is observing and is always in tune with every element of my life and affairs.
This ocean of life that surrounds me now,
As a point of awareness,
Appears as a vast,
Benevolent white light.
And as it shines,
It seems to grow brighter and brighter until it shines right through me.
And I can feel it passing through me,
And as it passes through,
I begin to glow.
And I begin to radiate this light as well.
And as I sense that I am glowing,
My awareness is expanding in all directions,
From all sides,
From above and below.
And I trust it.
And I can feel the quiet joy of being alive and provided for by life itself.
I can feel the presence of life in me,
And I know that this presence is in other forms of life as well.
We rest in this awareness as we drift in the ocean of light and life.
We are home.
We are safe.
We are at peace.
Knowing that our body,
Emotions,
Desires,
And our intellect will be there for us when we awake.
We are at peace.
We rest in the ocean of light and life.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
We are at peace.
