When you feel like you can't catch up with circumstances, like you can't even breathe, it's important to step back from your situation and become present with your current emotions. It will do you no good trying to continue in the same state of anxiety or stress. I encourage you to take a moment, listen to this recording, and be present with yourself. This guided meditation will help you acknowledge your feelings and hold them in loving-kindness.

Hello and welcome to your opportunity to take a step back from whatever you are dealing with in this moment.

A chance to be present with yourself and with your emotions.

Time to recognize,

Let go,

And move forward.

Make yourself comfortable in a seated position.

Your hands can rest atop the thighs and close your eyes if you like.

Take a huge inhale through the nose and sigh it out.

Let it go.

Begin to inhale and exhale through the nose and deepen your breath.

Allow the belly to soften,

Allowing more air to flow in.

Let your shoulders fall away from your ears and bring a softness into your chest.

Take five intentional slow breaths,

Listening to the sound of the air flowing in and out and becoming aware of the space the air is creating in your body.

Take fivecropGreen RealT meanwhile fluff perceptions Now,

Start to become aware of the feelings you are experiencing in this moment.

Whatever the feeling or feelings,

Bring them into your awareness.

Notice where you feel them in your body and at what intensity.

Take a moment to acknowledge that this is your experience.

Now then,

Imagine you have a bag,

Notice the qualities of this bag.

What does it look like?

What color is it?

What shape is it?

How big is it?

Does it have a zipper?

A drawstring?

Whatever kind of bag,

Just know what it looks like.

And now imagine yourself taking all of the feelings you are experiencing and placing them in that bag.

Holding it in your hands,

Be aware of the weight of the bag and what it feels like to hold it.

Now see yourself going throughout your day and carrying the bag the whole time.

As soon as you wake up in the morning,

You pick it up,

Throw it over your shoulders and you go to brush your teeth with it.

You're cooking breakfast with the bag,

Going to work with the bag,

Going to see your family and friends still holding the bag,

Never once not holding the bag.

You take the dog for a walk with the bag.

But finally,

You walk through your door after a long day carrying around this bag and you realize that you can set the bag down.

Take it off your shoulders,

Set it on the floor.

Take a deep breath here,

Become aware of how this feels.

Notice any differences.

Notice what it feels like to see the bag on the floor away from you,

Separate from you.

You can now identify yourself without holding the bag.

Now imagine you sit down with the bag and you open it up.

You reach inside for one of its contents and you feel it.

You don't have to define it or label it.

Just see yourself holding it in your hands and in your awareness.

Look upon it with loving kindness and have compassion for yourself for carrying it around for as long as you have.

Recognize this feeling.

Honor it.

Accept it for what it is.

Trust that it has been in your life for a purpose but now it no longer serves you.

Allow your hands to open up and let it go.

See it absorb back into the cosmos.

Offer it up to a higher power and trust that it will be taken care of.

Come back to your breath.

Noticing the quality of your breath,

The quality of your energy,

The quality of your thoughts and your emotions.

How do you feel in this present moment?

Know that you have plenty of time to look through your bag,

Acknowledge its contents and let them go one by one.

It just takes time and loving awareness.

I hope that now you can move through the rest of your day feeling a little lighter,

Knowing that your feelings are valid,

That your experience is valid.

But whatever the circumstances are,

They will pass.

If at any point,

Again today,

You become overwhelmed with your emotions,

Remember that you can always come back to your breath.

Your breath is your number one supporter.

It is your life.

So allow yourself to trust in it.

Let it guide you.

Sending you my love,

My appreciation.

The light in me sees and honors the light in you.

Namaste.
