Drift into quiet stillness with this meditation, gently exploring the deepest root of human fear — the fear of dying and of having to let go of everything we know. Rooted in the yogic understanding of Abhiniveśa, this practice invites a clear, steady meeting with impermanence, without denial or drama. Through breath awareness and grounded observation, you’ll be guided to reflect on the transient nature of life — not to create fear, but to soften it. Whether death is understood as a complete ending or a transition into something beyond, this practice offers a way to meet it with calm presence. As fear loosens, gratitude naturally arises — not forced, but felt — for this moment, this breath, and this brief chance to be alive. This meditation is suitable for experienced meditators and can be practised seated or lying down. Part of the series “Freedom from the Kleśas”

Well,

Hello everybody and welcome to our final episode in the series Freedom from the Kleshas.

And I'd like to just say thank you for listening to these.

You need to be strong to understand the truth,

And a lot of people shy away from this.

And the last one is definitely there.

This is about abhinivesha,

And really it's described as the fear of dying.

But most people are not really that scared of dying per se,

It's the fear of letting go of everything,

Letting go of the love,

Letting go of the people that they know,

Letting go of the material world,

Letting go of everything that seems real to them.

But really there isn't any fear,

Because if you believe that you are going to become part of something greater than this,

Well there is no pain in that.

And really as well as that,

If you don't and you're a complete atheist,

It's lights out and there is no pain in that either.

The scary part is letting go,

But it's a reality.

And if we look at this in the correct way,

Then you'll see that it's actually how it's supposed to be.

Because the transientness of life is what makes us grateful for this moment.

Without there being an end,

There's no need to recognize this moment.

And so it's fundamental to understand this,

And it's a topic that's often just completely and utterly ignored in the West until it actually happens,

And then it's a shock to everybody.

So there's no sugarcoating here with this one guys,

I'm not doing that.

We're going to take it as it is.

Find yourself a comfortable seated position,

Sitting with an upright spine,

Preparing for the practice of meditation in your own way,

Whatever that might be.

Feeling into the body,

Or the breath,

Using the breath,

Or gently gazing at the third eye.

Allow the breath to slow down.

Allow the body to relax into this.

The breath is moving naturally now.

There is nothing to prepare for here.

Nothing to protect against.

Just this moment.

Begin by sensing the body,

The weight of it,

The contact with the ground and the chair.

Feel how the body is now being held.

Notice the breath,

Not controlling it,

Not shaping it.

Just noticing that it is happening.

Breath is breathing.

Life is moving.

Gently take your eyes and look at your third eye.

Gaze into chidakasha,

The comings and goings.

The inky darkness,

The patterns,

And the eternity of it.

No beginning.

No ending.

Just what is.

Be involved with it.

Abhinivesha,

As the prophets,

Patanjali and others,

Have said,

This is the fear of dying.

The fear of ending.

The fear of having to let go of everything familiar.

The fear lives deeply in the body.

Often unspoken.

Often ignored.

You don't need to dramatize it.

You don't need to push it away.

You just need to acknowledge it.

Just rest in that acknowledgment of the transientness of this life.

This is not scary.

This is how it is.

One day this body will stop breathing and this life will end.

And the Buddhists say life is like a little bird on your shoulder.

One day it will fly away.

And you don't know when that will be.

But it's beautiful whilst it's there.

This is not a belief.

It's a fact.

And whether you believe that death is a complete nothingness or a transition into something beyond,

There is no pain after it.

There is nothing to fear.

Pain belongs to the living.

Let that be felt.

Just feeling into that.

And if you're noticing a reaction towards this,

A rejection of this idea,

This is back to,

One,

A video or ignorance.

Just let it settle.

Not stopping anything.

Just recognizing what is real.

The fear is not in death itself.

The fear is of letting go.

Letting go of the body.

Of identity.

Of relationships.

Of plants.

Of everything we cling to as mine.

Let these words settle and see if you can see the truth of them.

Nothing you have is truly yours.

Including this life.

Whatever arises here is allowed.

And encouraged.

Sit deep.

Stare into the face of your own mortality.

See if you can stay present with the truth without turning away.

Breathing.

Sensing.

Aware.

Rest in this.

Now notice something quietly profound.

Because life ends,

This moment matters.

Because nothing lasts,

This breath is precious.

Not in a sentimental way.

In a factual way.

The transient nature of the material is what makes us grateful for the present.

Live in this.

Gratitude does not need to be manufactured.

It arises naturally when impermanence is seen clearly.

This is what is meant to be.

You're alive now.

You're breathing now.

You're here now.

And that is enough.

And that has always been the case.

And that will always be the case.

Become familiar with this without fear.

Just simply acknowledgement.

And enjoy what you have now.

Dissolving into pure awareness.

Becoming who you truly are.

Push out.

This body is transient.

You are eternal.

Let awareness rest in the simplicity of being alive.

Just rest there.

No future.

No past.

Just this moment of experience.

Fear softens when it's no longer there.

Anger is no longer avoided.

Clinging loosens when it's no longer denied.

What remains is not despair but clarity.

Now widen awareness.

Include breath,

Body,

Sound,

Thought.

Let everything arise and pass.

All things come to pass.

Rest in peace.

Nothing is held.

Nothing is resisted.

Just life moving.

Experience unfolding for you in this moment.

Allow that to be.

Focus your attention on the third eye.

No thoughts.

Pure awareness.

I'm still here.

Pure awareness.

No fear.

Feel the body.

On your cushion or on the mat.

Return gently to the breath.

Allow the body to breathe and then start to take some control of the breath.

Gently controlling the breath.

Slowly starting to return back to this level of consciousness.

Returning now.

Coming back now.

Moving the body.

Taking some stretches.

Coming back.

Notice the space around you.

When you open your eyes,

See if you can carry this understanding with you.

Not as heaviness but as honesty.

One day everything will be let go.

And because of that,

This moment is worth fully inhabiting.

That's why it's precious.

The precious present unfolding for you.

Coming all the way back.

All the way back.

The meditation practice on Ambalivishar is over.

Thank you once again for joining me.

This was not supposed to be morbid in any way at all.

It's truthful and honest.

We open our eyes to this and become more present.

More honest with ourselves.

If you enjoyed this and you know people that can handle these kinds of realities,

Then please pass it on.

Follow my teachings which are,

I'm just a vehicle of course.

Thank you ever so much for joining me.

From my heart to yours,

Much love,

Yogi Phoenix.
