Drift into quiet stillness with this meditation gently guiding you toward clearer seeing and inner ease. Rooted in the yogic understanding of Avidyā—ignorance not as a fault, but as a subtle habit of mis-seeing—this practice invites you to soften the mental patterns that quietly create tension and dissatisfaction. Through simple breath awareness and spacious observation, you’ll be guided to notice how the mind automatically clings, resists, or seeks certainty. Without effort or analysis, perception begins to settle, allowing clarity to emerge and unnecessary strain to release. As seeing becomes clearer, the mind naturally relaxes. There is less effort, less grasping, and a growing sense of ease in simply meeting experience as it is. This meditation is suitable for experienced meditators and can be practised seated or lying down. Part of the series “Freedom from the Kleśas”

Well,

Hello everybody and welcome back to this meditation with me,

Yogi Phoenix.

In this series we are going to explore the kleshas and the kleshas are basically the root of all our unhappiness and suffering according to Patanjali who wrote them down and defined them in the second pattern of his masterpiece,

The Yoga Sutras and they're in 2.

3 to 2.

9 and the first one is the master of all of them,

The master deceptor and that is avidya and avidya basically means ignorance and so in this practice we're not really going to dispel ignorance,

We're going to become accustomed to what it truly is and what it means to us and how we can see clearly through it and practice that.

So Patanjali explains avidya not only as ignorance but as defines that ignorance from taking the impermanent to be permanent so that's you know we do this,

We think that things are going to stay the same,

They never stay the same,

They're always in constant flux.

The impure is the pure,

Pain is pleasure,

You know,

When you ask any addict,

The non-self as the self.

So we're not this material body,

We're going to dispel that perhaps a little bit and move into our true nature,

Our true self.

So this practice invites you to soften the mental patterns that quietly create the tension and dissatisfaction.

So let's just get on,

Find yourself a comfortable position to meditate in,

Whatever that is in is for you and let's just start to settle in.

Allow the body to be supported,

Let the eyes close gently and allow the breath to find its own natural rhythm.

Just settling in,

Allowing the breath to find its own natural rhythm.

There's nothing to achieve,

There's nothing to work out,

Just a quiet willingness to be present.

Let the mind quieten down,

Let the breath bring you to that space that you all know,

That quiet,

Open spaciousness in your meditation practice.

Take a few moments to feel the body as it is,

The weight of the body,

The points of contact,

The simple fact of being here.

Allow the breath to move freely,

Not controlling it,

Just noticing it.

As the breath settles,

Begin to notice the quality of awareness itself.

The way experience is being known in this moment,

Just recognize how that is occurring for you.

Thoughts may arise,

Sensations may shift,

Sounds may come and go and there is no need to follow any of them.

Settling all the way in now,

Quietening the mind.

And notice how quickly the mind begins to interpret,

To label,

To assume.

Notice the habit of believing what the mind says about experience,

That things should last,

That something is missing,

That this moment needs to be different.

There is nothing wrong with these movements of the mind.

They are not mistakes,

They are virtues.

Notice them and allow them to pass without engaging,

Simply letting them pass.

Deeper now,

Deeper now.

So let's not ignore anything.

Let's settle into a state of clarity without ignorance.

Start to recognize the self,

Start to recognize who you truly are.

And then once you've found that,

When it comes to pass,

Notice how the mind quickly explains what's happening.

It interprets.

Notice the expectation that things should last,

Satisfy or define you.

Assumption.

Notice how easily thoughts are taken as truth.

Let it flow again,

Letting go.

Notice how the mind quietly explains what's happening.

Notice the explanation that things should last,

Satisfy or define you.

Notice how easily thoughts are taken as truth.

Dropping deep now,

Much deeper now.

All things come to pass,

And yet somehow we want everything to stay the same.

And yet we ignore that things come to pass,

That we are in constant flux,

Constantly changing within the moment.

Recognize the transitory state of your being.

Recognize the transitory state of your being.

Notice the impure as pure.

Recognize this is not true.

Recognize the things we do to ourselves that cause us pain.

Interpret it as pleasure.

We interpret that as pleasure.

And recognize who you truly are,

The self,

Not the non-self.

Understanding the true nature of who you are.

Now,

Gently noticing the beginning of clear seeing,

Clarity,

No ignorance.

Each time you recognize a thought as a thought,

Each time you sense a reaction forming and allow it to soften,

Clarity naturally happens.

We're not ignoring the thoughts.

We're recognizing them for what they are.

They do not define you.

You are pure,

Pure energy,

Pure spirit.

Rest in that awareness.

You're not trying to remove the ignorance per se.

You're simply not feeding it now.

Not feeding it now.

Wide and expansive.

Eternal being.

Experiencing this moment as a human,

The human experience.

And that's all it is.

Just an experience.

Rest now in simple awareness.

Before interpretation.

Before judgment.

Breathing,

Sensing,

Aware.

Breathing,

Sensing,

Aware.

If the mind starts to wander,

That's fine.

Notice it kindly and return to the simple presence.

Coming back to simple presence.

There's nothing wrong with you.

You are pure awareness.

You are pure awareness.

In this quiet seeing,

Effort drops away.

Strain softens.

The mind becomes less busy.

Not because it's forced to be still,

But because it no longer needs to grasp.

No grasping.

No clinging.

No false assumptions.

No ignorance.

Pure clarity.

Dissolve in worry.

Regret.

They're just experiences.

Remain here for a few moments.

Resting in clarity.

Allowing things to be exactly as they are.

Generally recognize the body breathing.

And take control of the breath.

Breathe the body.

Breathe the body.

Gently start to move the fingers and the toes.

Moving back into your human experience.

Feel the body.

Feel alive.

Take some more movement.

Maybe roll your head.

Hold onto your knees.

Roll on the lumbar if you're lying down.

Gently coming back.

Coming back now.

All the way back now.

All the way back now.

The practice of Vidya,

Freedom from ignorance,

Is over.

All right.

Thank you ever so much.

As you go through your day,

Notice the assumptions that you make.

And notice how you think things are right when they're not,

Generally.

And look at it from a different perspective.

Look at it from who you truly are.

Your true self.

Enjoy your life.

Enjoy this beautiful experience we have for a fleeting moment.

If we place our hands together in prayer,

Bring your hands to your heart center.

May we have love in the heart.

Hands to the lips.

May we have truth in the speech.

Hands to the forehead.

May we have gratitude in the mind.

Prayer back down to the heart center and bow the head.

Namaste.

And from my heart to yours,

Much love.

Until we meet again,

See you for the next series,

Part of the series,

Asmita.

All the best.

Play it on.

Thank you.

Bye-bye.
