Sat Naam and welcome.
Today's practice is meditation for new beginnings.
In this particular practice we'll be using a Mudra hand position as well as a Pranayama.
So come to a seated cross-legged position or leave your leg extended or sit in a chair.
Straighten your spine.
Press your palms together at the center of your chest.
Let's tune in with the Adi mantra.
Ong namo,
Gurudev namo.
I bow to the teacher within.
I call in my highest consciousness.
Ong namo,
Gurudev namo.
Ong namo,
Gurudev namo.
Ong namo,
Gurudev namo.
I bow to the teacher within.
I call in my highest consciousness.
I am awake.
Sitting up tall and straight now.
Bring your left hand to your left knee.
Bring the first finger and thumb to touch.
This is called Gyan Mudra,
Mudra for wisdom.
And then with the thumb of your right hand,
Cover the right nostril.
Inhale left.
Cover the left nostril with your ring finger and exhale right.
And we'll continue in that way.
Inhaling left.
Cover using the ring finger and exhale right.
We're continuing now for just a few minutes.
This is the meditation for new beginnings.
A powerful way to use prana energy to energize the brain and to bring about specific effects.
This is a breathing technique in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga.
Continue now inhaling through the left,
Covering the left nostril and exhaling right.
Continuing now,
Making sure that your eyes are focused in between the eyebrows and slightly above.
Keeping your posture very tall and straight.
There are a few different ways to experience prana energy.
One is through the breath.
The second is through gaze.
The third is through touch.
So here we are activating all of those senses.
Feel yourself now dropping into your body,
Focusing on what a new beginning means for you.
Notice now if you can start to lengthen and deepen your breath.
Are you able to inhale for a longer count and exhale for a longer count?
Coming up to the last few rounds.
Take a deep inhale now,
Straighten the spine,
Keeping your eyes closed.
Relax your hand down and exhale through both nostrils.
Sit tall and straight for a few moments.
Hold the energy,
Let the energy circulate.
Be here in the power and the presence of your breath.
Press your palms together at the center of your chest.
We close the class now with a long sat,
Short nam.
Inhale very deeply.
Sat nam.
Sat nam means truth is my name.
And with the energy of this pranayama,
Move forward into the next phase of your life.
This practice is best done if you're doing it consistently for let's say 11 days or 21 days or for full effect go for 40.
Sat nam.
