Hello there.

I'm Ashley Woods and today's meditation is about infusing your day with gratitude.

Gratitude that has the power to completely transform your life.

So let's begin by noticing how you feel.

Just checking in.

Notice if you feel anxious or hurried in any way.

Like a pull to be doing something other than what you're doing right now.

And if you find that that's the case,

I often find that's the case with me.

Just an underlying anxiety or rush towards the future.

If that's the case,

Take a deep breath and give yourself permission to be here doing just this for right now.

Giving yourself this time and this space to center and recalibrate.

And before we close our eyes,

Take a moment and observe the room that you're in.

Soften your focus a little bit and see the actual space of the room that you're in.

Notice the emptiness.

The space between things.

Notice the unoccupied areas that give way to the objects within them.

Begin to sense the relationship between the things in the space and the space itself.

Invite each breath you take to expand your awareness and the very spaciousness within you.

Now let your eyes settle on something in the room.

Anything is fine.

Just wherever your eyes land is okay.

It could be a rug or a table,

A photo or whatever.

And relax your gaze as you hold this object in your awareness.

Soften your eyes.

Just look at it.

See this object as if you've never seen it before.

Really look at it without judging it or analyzing it so much as just seeing it.

Like you might need to describe it in detail to someone later.

See its edges,

Its shape,

Its color,

Texture,

And feel into it and sense its energy.

And find something to appreciate about it.

Notice your experience of this object without the judgments of your mind in the way.

Just experiencing the object directly.

Can you sense its beauty however simple it may be?

And now closing your eyes come quickly and deeply into your body.

Drawing a deep breath in,

Bringing your attention to the top of your head.

Hold the breath there for a moment and sigh it out with an audible sigh.

Again taking a very deep breath in and moving your awareness to the very top of your head as you hold the breath in and releasing with a sigh.

Sink into the surface beneath you.

Feel the weight of gravity grounding you down and without making a lot of effort stretch your body out nice and tall as you expand into your length and your fullness.

Simultaneously weighted and stretching but with ease.

Let go of any holding in your jaw.

The tiny muscles around your eyes,

The shoulders,

The neck.

Let them soften.

Relaxing your upper back.

Opening through the heart center,

Allowing that space to melt and widen with each breath.

Relax your hips and let your legs be heavy.

Release any holding in your belly.

Just let your belly hang soft,

Relaxed.

We're going to rewind our day and go back to the moment when we first woke up.

Envision yourself there now in your bed at the dawn of this new day.

How might you infuse this moment with gratitude?

This very initial starting moment of your day before doing anything else.

What can you find right now to appreciate?

Now see yourself rise up and begin your morning routine.

Where do you go first?

Pause here.

Take an intentional breath and look around you.

What is it in this place that you can be thankful for?

Watch yourself as you get ready for your day now.

Eating breakfast,

Maybe interacting with your family or your pets,

Or just simply walking alone through your house,

Through your routine,

Getting dressed.

At what moment in this ordinary moment,

This ordinary morning,

Would you like to stop and take it all in?

Like you could take a snapshot of your life.

One of those photos that you would keep forever.

A fleeting moment of ordinary life that will soon pass and be gone.

What about this morning was precious,

Sacred,

Worth treasuring?

Now see yourself engaged in your work for the day.

Your errands or chores or business.

See yourself doing the work that needs to be done today,

And ask yourself,

What about this work am I grateful for?

How does this work enrich my life?

Open your heart to fully experience the gratitude that you're generating now.

Imagining now the end of your day.

See yourself preparing for bed,

Crawling into your bed,

Pulling the covers up around you.

Take a moment to reflect on the activities of the day.

What things delighted you?

What simple pleasures did you enjoy today?

Where did you see beauty?

Relax your body into the softness of your bed.

Let your body melt into the support beneath you.

Invite the warmth and vibration of gratitude to permeate every cell of your body.

To sink into your bones.

Let this energy fill you up to the point of overflowing.

And watch yourself drift off to sleep soaking in gratitude.

Now it's time to wake up and come back into this day in this body.

I'm taking a deep breath in,

Energizing your body.

Maybe you want to stretch your arms and your legs.

Mmm.

As if you're just waking up.

Coming back into the space that you're in.

And when you're ready,

You can open your eyes and go on with your day with a grateful heart.

As I’ve been looking for ways to increase my gratitude I’ve been filtering for guided meditations to help me. I love the concept laid out here. That there are things- many of them tiny- for us to be grateful for imbedded in the space between us and what we do. I’ll be on the lookout for those things today
