Hello,

Beautiful soul.

Today,

We're going to focus on implementing a little bit more mindfulness into one of the most comforting yet overlooked activities in our day.

Whether you prefer coffee,

Tea,

Cider,

Hot chocolate,

Or something else,

Savoring a hot drink can bring us to the present moment where we can find peace and gratitude.

Hopefully,

You have your hot steaming mug in hand.

If not,

Wrap both of your hands around it and bring it to your nose.

Close your eyes and inhale deeply.

Take notice not just of the usual smell of your drink,

But go a bit deeper.

What are some of the subtle notes?

Can you smell a deep roastiness or maybe a comforting spice,

The earthiness of herbs,

Or a certain sweetness?

Try to pick out a scent that you've never noticed before.

The sense of smell is closely connected with memory.

I want you to relish the scent of your drink and think of a happy memory that it reminds you of.

Let it take you back to that time and let the feeling swell within you.

Maybe it evokes a little smile.

Stay in this moment and embrace the joy it brings you.

You've waited long enough and tempted your taste buds.

Go ahead and take your first sip of your drink.

Let it flow over your tongue and experience the complexities of its flavor.

Take notice of its temperature and remember why it is that you enjoy this drink so much.

Continue to sip at your own pace,

Being mindful of each time you do.

Take time to thoroughly enjoy each and every one.

In between your sips,

Turn your attention to where you are and what you sense.

We're going to utilize the five,

Four,

Three,

Two,

One mindfulness technique to bring awareness to this moment.

Start by taking a look around you.

What are five things that catch your eye?

Pay attention to Pay attention to details,

Texture,

Color,

Lighting,

Anything like that.

Now take another sip and return your attention to your drink.

Let's take notice of four things that you feel.

It could be what you're wearing,

Sitting on,

A breeze,

Maybe the warmth of sunlight or even the heat of your mug.

Go ahead and enjoy another sip in the details of your drink.

Now listen to the world around you and pick out three different sounds.

If you're wearing earbuds,

Remove one for a few moments.

Are you surrounded by a soft electronic buzzing?

Maybe the sound of birds,

People talking,

Or maybe it's silent.

Sipping again,

We shift our focus from each sense back to a singular point.

Now what are two things that you can smell?

One may be as simple to find as your cup.

Others may be more subtle.

Are you surrounded by plants?

One may be as simple to find as your cup.

Others may be more subtle.

Are you surrounded by plants?

Maybe an oil diffuser?

Maybe the smells of the outdoors?

Taking another sip,

You may find yourself more acutely aware of the connection between how your drink smells and tastes.

So our last sense is taste.

This is an easy one as we find a single thing you can taste.

No need to look any further than what you're drinking.

Bring your full sense of awareness to your mug and what's inside.

Savor it to the fullest extent.

If you have anything left in your mug,

Continue to keep your awareness on it,

Your senses,

And how you feel in this moment.

It's completely natural to have a million thoughts fighting for your attention,

But just for these few minutes,

Just while you enjoy this rejuvenating warm drink,

Push them aside.

You can come back to your to-do list,

Or you can take a moment to come back to your to-do list,

Relationships,

And even worries in just a moment.

But for now,

Savor your drink and your time for yourself.

So thank you for sharing this wonderful time and drink with me.

And until next time,

Never stop growing.

Thoroughly enjoyable. I will definitely return to this again. My morning coffee, along with meditation, is how I begin every day. Usually my coffee gets cold while I meditate, but this ... perfect!! Thank you.
