This is for those who cannot let go of anger. Anger is a healthy feeling but still needs to be dealt with and processed with compassion. Sometimes the anger is directed towards ourselves, others and perhaps even things like the natural environment. I hope that this practice will be helpful in processing it.

When anger shows up.

Take a moment and describe the way it feels to yourself right now.

Does it feel like a violent earthquake erupting from the solar plexus?

Or does it feel like a quiet disapproval?

Sometimes you don't even know you're angry.

You're just numb,

Distant and disappointed.

Do you feel it in your throat or your stomach?

Solar plexus or your hands?

Describe exactly how it feels right now.

Let your body feel fully of that anger.

Ask yourself why.

Why did this anger show up?

When did it show up?

Was it someone,

Some place or some situation that reminded you of this anger?

Describe the story around this anger.

What is your story?

Tell me all about your story.

And ask this question,

In this story,

Are you someone who can be diminished,

Attacked,

Belittled,

Who needs protecting,

Who needs to be defended?

Or are you a human being who shows his or her conviction,

Who cannot be offended because their love for themselves is unshakable,

Their worthiness indestructible and therefore nothing to hide or prove to the rest of the world?

Anger has power.

Anger offers clarity,

Crystal clear clarity.

When you feel anger,

What part of you are you defending?

Do you really see things clearly?

Or are you seeing things only from your own glasses?

Can you be absolutely sure that what you see is the truth?

Or is there a chance,

A small chance,

That you are seeing this only through your glasses?

Of course.

Because every human being sees their own truths through their own glasses.

You are right,

And they are right.

You are wrong,

And they are wrong.

But the moment you've changed your mind,

The moment you see a possibility that you only have your own glasses in front of your eyes,

You have already stopped suffering.

But there are others in this story who are still drowning in their stories.

Their glasses see water rising in front of their eyes,

And they are drowning in their own anger,

More and more suffering.

The moment you changed your mind about the possibility of this story,

You have removed your drowning glasses,

And you can see you are not suffering anymore.

You were put on this earth.

There is nothing you cannot handle.

Whatever the people,

Places,

Or situations that made you feel anger is simply reminding you to remember your power.

Your true power that is unshakable.

You don't need to defend.

You don't need to pick up your mental dagger and attack back.

You need only to sit firmly in your throne.

Remember that anger.

What it felt like.

They are still drowning in that feeling.

You are not.

They are still wearing those glasses,

Playing the game of anger,

Of violence.

Playing the same story over and over in their heads so that they don't forget.

So they can continue to suffer.

We stop playing the same stories in our heads and transform our anger into compassion.

Compassion towards people,

Places,

Situations.

As we shine better for ourselves and the world when we can act from love.

Stop the same story in your head.

Move on with compassion towards ourselves and others and to the world.

Now breathe.

Breathe with freedom.

Freedom from the suffering of anger.

Breathe in the nectar of love and compassion.

You are most powerful when you stand defenseless.

When you open to the world with nothing to hide.

You are free,

Open and spacious.

Connected to the divine workings of the universe.

Breathe once again.

Freely.

And you are ready to walk out into the world with open arms.

Having carried my anger around for my entire life, anger created in childhood by a dysfunctional family and abusive father, this was a wonderful meditation. I particularly like the part about holding on to anger so that you donโ€™t forget. Round and round we go in a circle and the longer we do it the harder it is to escape.Thank you.
