Welcome.

In this meditation,

You'll explore the delicate dance of balancing grit and grace.

Grit represents your inner strength,

Resilience,

And determination.

While grace embodies joy,

Compassion,

And ease.

Begin by getting comfortable,

Whether you're sitting or lying down,

Making sure your body is able to relax,

To be still,

To be centered with your breath.

Close your eyes.

Take a big breath in through your nose.

Hold it just for a moment,

And then slowly exhale through your mouth.

Do that once more.

And return to your easy,

Natural pace of breathing,

Noticing the rise and fall of your chest.

And as tension or distractions or thoughts or judgments come up,

Remember that's a totally normal part of a mindfulness practice.

And as you notice these,

Just invite a sense of acceptance and the ability to let things pass by.

If it's helpful,

You can place one or both hands on your stomach for this meditation.

And we're going to begin by taking a moment to reflect on a time that you exhibited grit in your life.

It can be a massive life-changing thing you overcame,

Or something as simple as getting through a frustrating meeting or a hard time in traffic.

Whatever you choose,

Let it be enough.

Let whatever you got through be a display of your strength,

Of your tenacity.

No matter how small or simple,

No matter how hard it was,

Let yourself take pride.

Let yourself take pride.

Let yourself feel the strength that it took in that moment.

Let yourself acknowledge the resilience you exhibited.

Acknowledge the inner fire,

Drive that got you here today.

Let yourself be filled with a sense of strength,

Of pride,

Of resilience.

Whatever comes up for you in this memory,

In these words,

Let it fill your being.

Let yourself embody this inner warrior that so often is overlooked or undervalued.

Breathe in deeply,

Letting yourself fully feel your strength.

Another deep breath in as you let your mind bring in other instances of your strength,

Perseverance,

Your experience,

Your ability to overcome.

And begin to notice where you feel this in your body.

What sensations,

Images,

Thoughts,

Or feelings come up?

They associate colors,

Times of the day,

Or year with this feeling of strength and grit.

And whatever comes up,

Embrace it.

It is your unique warrior signature.

And if judgment or insecurity come up,

Know that by simply sitting with this practice,

You are persevering,

You are strengthening,

You are a warrior.

Take a deep breath in and feel your strength.

Let it fill your body.

And exhale slowly.

Again,

Breathing in deeply,

Feeling your strength,

Letting it fill your body.

And exhaling any insecurity or fear that your strength is not enough.

With our next few breaths,

You can shift your focus to grace.

Noticing this new sensation in your body as you shift focus.

Bring to mind moments that you moved through life or situation with compassion,

Elegance,

Or a sense of ease and contentedness.

Perhaps when you showed kindness to yourself or others,

Radiating a peaceful presence.

And just like grit,

No example of grace is too small.

Because each gesture is authentic.

It is love.

It is pure.

Let yourself relish in the details of this example of a time you moved with grace,

Existed with grace.

Let yourself feel the warmth,

The lightness,

The ease.

Where do you feel this in your body?

What associations come up?

What feelings?

What memories?

Welcome them.

Take a few deep breaths to acknowledge the presence of grace.

Take a few deep breaths to acknowledge and embrace any positive associations or feelings that come up with this sense of grace.

Let your body hold this feeling.

Let yourself lock this feeling in.

This beautiful,

Sweet grace you give yourself and others.

And now,

Imagine these qualities of grit and grace,

Both intertwining,

Finding a harmonious balance within you.

While they seem different,

They are completely complementary,

Balancing one another within your inner world and in the world outside of you.

How do these two exist together in your life,

In your being,

In your heart?

You may even have examples come up where grit and grace were hand in hand.

Perhaps a time or an imagined time where strength and sweetness existed together.

Where resilience and radiance took you through whatever you needed to get through.

And in this moment and the moments to come,

Anchor in to this feeling of strength and grit supporting you as you face the challenges ahead and pursue your goals.

Embrace the determination and the resilience that drive you forward.

And at the same time,

Feel the softness of grace infusing all you do with kindness,

Compassion,

Forgiveness,

Love.

Allow grace to guide you,

To navigate relationships and interactions,

To bring a sweetness,

Contentment,

And love.

What comes up as you see these in harmony?

Perhaps a feeling,

Something in your body or something you're working towards that seems a little more achievable.

Embracing these qualities together empowers you to face challenges,

To be strong while being centered.

Inhale deeply,

Drawing in this balance of grit and grace and exhale slowly.

With each breath in,

You feel this balance within you deepening.

And with each breath out,

You bring yourself closer to a life balanced with strength and elegance.

Sit with this balance of grit and grace just a little longer,

Allowing it to settle deep into your body and your being.

In whatever way it comes up for you,

Embrace it,

Celebrate it.

Visualize yourself using it to achieve what sits in front of you,

The challenges,

The goals.

Know that you can access this harmonious state anytime you need.

This joyful warrior is always in you.

Breathe in deeply,

Exhale slowly.

When you're ready,

Gently open your eyes,

Carrying this sense of balance,

Of harmony with you as you move through the rest of your day.

And may this integration of grit and grace help you live a life filled with strength and joy.
