Today I want to share a meditation and a little story with you before we begin.

This is going to be centered around inner child healing.

I believe that this inner child work is very supportive on the journey to help us process information,

Events and experiences,

And maybe even trauma from our past that we have carried into our present.

Meditations like this one can be a divine experience going back to the innocence of the earliest form on this planet.

There is a beautiful,

Joyful and inspired place deep in all of us that holds the key to navigating our adult lives where we often find struggle and challenges.

The inner child is a part of us that along with many versions of ourselves is still a part of us today.

Just because we grow and change doesn't mean they are gone.

Their experiences have led you to this exact moment in your life,

To the place that you are now.

It is a great time to show love and appreciation for this little person that is still with you and wants your love and attention and ultimately wants what's best for you.

To me,

It is a magical place where my present self can connect with the past versions and tend to them,

Ask questions,

Maybe even get answers and feel fully into my wholeness.

My very first experience in doing this inner child work through meditation was beautiful and emotional.

In the meditation,

The guide asked us to bring our minds to a person that made us feel safe as a child.

As we sat quietly dropping into the space sitting with this tiny version of myself,

The first person that came to my mind was Jesus.

Yes,

Jesus Christ,

The Messiah from the Bible.

My little self was so excited jumping up and down.

I sat there thinking back to my childhood and how much love I felt for Jesus because of all the things I had been taught,

But more from the stories where he was always with the children,

Holding them and making them feel safe.

In that moment in the meditation,

I could feel what that feeling of safety felt like and realize that I had lost some of that over the last several years.

This experience felt so amazing to me that just by dropping into a meditation and connecting with my little self that I was reminded of something my inner child and my adult self desired,

But couldn't seem to find outside of me.

This helped to remind me that I have had it inside of me all of the time.

There are countless stories like this one that I could share in doing this work that has helped to open my eyes and my heart to the things that really matter.

And of course,

There are times when the sadness and fears come up and it's okay and perfectly normal.

I've had these experiences too.

They have given me the chance to feel those feelings,

Identify them and release them.

In these moments,

I can reparent my inner child and carry that over to my adult self,

Helping me to identify where I want to make changes or maybe new choices to extend that love and compassion to myself first and then watch how it spills over into the people around me.

So let's meditate together and connect with our inner child.

I invite you to bring your hands to your heart center,

One on top of the other.

And as we begin,

Settling into the space that you are in,

Relaxing the body,

Softening into this moment,

Allowing yourself to become quiet and still,

And then just noticing your breath.

The inhale and the exhale,

The ebb and the flow,

The natural rhythm.

Just be with that for just a moment or so as you allow yourself to turn inward and release the outside world for just a little while with me here.

It's okay if you feel a little fidgety or having a little trouble settling into some stillness and quiet.

We'll take a few deep breaths here together to help us drop in a little more deeply.

We can begin by inhaling deeply through the nose,

Feeling your heart space expand.

And then exhaling slowly out the nose or the mouth.

Breathing in deeply.

And exhaling completely.

And we'll do that one more time.

Deep breath in.

And a long,

Slow breath out.

Settling deeply into your space a little more,

Feeling a little cozy and comfortable.

Leaning into the safety and quiet of this moment.

I'm going to invite you into a visualization,

And you can access this imagery with any of your five senses.

Observe your thoughts and your feelings without any judgment,

Shame,

Or blame.

Take a moment and think back to a happy memory from your childhood.

Choosing a time that feels good,

That brings a smile to your face,

Or a warm sensation to your heart.

Let it be a time where you felt joyful,

Playful,

Maybe even creative or curious.

It could be at any age and at any place.

You might have a few memories that are coming to mind,

And see if you can bring your attention to just one.

And let's focus here.

Zero in on the details of your emotions in this memory.

You might feel sensations in your body.

Maybe familiar smells or sounds are coming to mind.

And then notice how old are you in this memory?

Observe what season or time of year it is.

Maybe you even remember the month or the date or the day.

And it's okay if you don't.

And let's get even more specific.

Can you notice the time of day?

What clothes are you wearing?

Maybe even noticing if there are people with you or if you are on your own.

Taking in all that's around you in this memory.

Colors,

Textures,

Sensations,

Events,

Activities.

And then bring your attention to your heart space as you bring your hands back there.

Take a few deep breaths as you need them or feel good for you.

And notice any healings or emotions that are coming up for you in remembering this happy moment.

And allow yourself to choose one word to describe this.

What word would you choose?

Allow the first word that comes up in your mind to land right into your heart center.

Maybe even as a little message from your inner child.

Take a few more deep breaths in and out here.

Feeling into that emotion,

Embodying it into your being.

And locking it into your heart space.

Now I'd like you to imagine yourself as you are now,

Standing beside this younger version of yourself in the memory.

As you look down towards her or him,

Notice if there are any words that you want to say to her now.

Is there anything that you would like to ask her?

Do you notice any messages,

Profound thoughts,

Or inspirational words?

Allow yourself to trust whatever comes up in this special moment for you at this time is meant for you.

You might even repeat the words a few times quietly in your mind.

Give yourself another moment to feel into the emotions that you have for your little self.

Feelings of love or joy,

Compassion.

And the same that she returns for you.

And I invite you to take a deep breath in and a long breath out.

Feeling your hands on your heart center,

Feeling into the sensation.

Now your time is coming to an end.

So you bend down and give the little one a gentle embrace.

Knowing that you can come back and visit at any time.

As you wave goodbye and part ways,

Take another deep breath in.

And a slow,

Steady breath out.

Bringing your attention and awareness back into the space that you are in.

And when you're ready,

You can gently begin to open your eyes or lift your gaze.

And just sit here for a few minutes longer in the space of calm and peace.

Be feeling into your natural,

Organic breath.

Or if it feels good,

Take another deep breath or two.

Bringing our awareness to the sensations and emotions that came up after visiting our little self.

You can feel emotional.

I hope that in this practice you allowed your mind to settle on the words that came up as maybe the little messages or inspirations that you needed to hear.

And maybe here in this space,

You can identify those words and ask yourself,

How can I bring this energy into my daily life today?

I also invite you to either pause this recording and maybe journal about your experience.

Or when this is over,

I encourage you to write down your feelings,

Your memories,

The details,

Anything and everything that came up for you.

And you might even add a sentence at the end about how proud you are of your little self and your adult self for spending this time together.

And going on this short journey.

I have found that it is important to take time to reconnect with my inner child.

It can be very beneficial in our healing process.

It allows our self the time to release old patterns or negative feelings from the past.

And gives us the opportunity to give some extra care to any unmet needs from our childhood.

It is also a good time to work at reparenting and offering love and compassion we might have felt that we didn't receive it when we were younger.

I have also found it to be quite insightful as a window into my inner wisdom,

Allowing me to tap into a younger and purer version of myself.

Before all of the world's programming,

Conditioning and expectations clouded up my mind and my heart.

In this space,

We can allow our hearts to be open,

To feel safe and to connect with the deepest parts to bring healing and growth.

It is one of the most loving things we can do for ourselves.

I would encourage anyone who is dealing with any childhood trauma,

Loss,

Pain or grief to continue to practice this type of meditation.

It can be a great support along other supports that you find helpful for you,

Whether that be talk therapy or support groups.

Thank you so much for practicing with me today.

I hope that you have a beautiful rest of your day.

Namaste.
