Mindful driving Start your journey by taking a breath in,

Fill the air into your lungs and out,

Breathing in and out and set a positive intention for your drive.

It could be something as simple as I will drive with awareness and patience or it might be I will enjoy each moment of this journey.

Let this intention guide your actions and thoughts as you drive,

Helping you stay focused and mindful.

And as you begin to drive,

Bring the attention to your surroundings.

Notice the colours and shapes around you.

What colour is the sky?

The colours of the road.

Let your eyes take in the scenery around you whilst staying focused on your driving.

Awareness now to the sounds of the engine.

Notice any rhythmic clicks of the indicators or the sound of passing cars.

Let each of these sounds anchor you into the present moment,

Each one a reminder of your journey and your presence on the road.

Fully taking in the sounds around you.

Notice your interactions with other drivers,

How do you feel if someone cuts you off or drives aggressively?

If you feel frustrated at all,

Remind yourself to stay calm and composed,

Practicing patience and compassion.

And if your mind starts to wander,

Bring the awareness back to your driving,

To your body.

Understanding now that each driver has their own challenges and stresses and your calm response can create a ripple effect of peace and relaxation.

And positivity on the road.

Being aware of your surroundings and your state of being.

Notice how the road feels under your tyres,

The sounds of your tyres,

The sounds of the road.

Notice the way the landscape changes as you move forward.

Each moment reminding you of your intention to stay present and mindful.

Enjoy your journey.

Finding joy in a simple act of driving.

Appreciating the opportunity to travel,

To see new sights,

Experience the world around you.

Gratitude to your brain for allowing you to learn to drive.

Gratitude to your body.

For enabling you to get in and out the car.

Feeling very grateful for this wonderful day.

Sending gratitude to your car.

And carry this sense of mindfulness with you as you continue your journey.

When you arrive at your destination,

Appreciate the calm and focus you maintained.

Remember you can always bring mindfulness into your journey of travel,

Making each trip an opportunity to cultivate peace,

Presence and mindfulness.

Have a safe journey.
