Welcome to today's meditation.
Today I want to cultivate the awareness,
That thing that we actually are.
Often we can get caught up in thought,
In feeling,
In sensations,
Thinking with the
body,
Thinking we're a thought,
Thinking we're the outside world,
A situation,
Identifying
ourselves with certain things.
And actually,
If you think about it,
And this is something we're going to experience today,
There's always been a part of us that's been consistent,
That's always been there,
No matter
what the age,
It was there when we were a child,
When we were a small baby,
There was
this awareness,
This essence of who or what we were and are.
And when we were toddlers it was there,
Even though our intellect changed,
Our personality
changed,
That awareness was still there.
As we grew up,
Getting older,
Changing in many ways,
Becoming teenagers,
Young adults,
You'll just notice there was this awareness,
This essence of a part of you watching your
life or the experiencer of your life,
Almost like the owner.
And often we use language like my eyesight,
My memory isn't as good now,
My taste,
My
body.
And so today I want us to notice who is the one that owns the body,
Who is the one that
thinks it's their memory,
And really cultivate touch base with the awareness behind it all.
Behind the owner as well as the thoughts and the other happenings in the world that we
sometimes get caught up in and identified with.
So the intention for today is just to empty out everything,
To let go of everything,
So
that we eventually are just left with that awareness.
We blur away all the clouds and eventually what's left is the blue sky,
Which is us.
And in that place there is an inner peace,
A calm,
A groundedness.
So that's what I hope for you today.
So you can find a comfortable position,
It doesn't have to be legs crossed,
But we do
want a position you're in where you're upright in some sense,
That you can sit comfortably
for a while,
But not so comfortably that you will fall asleep.
You'll still be active,
Not passive.
Close your eyes if you feel comfortable to do so,
It can help you go inward.
Take a long deep breath in and out,
And just relax.
There's nothing you need to do,
There's nothing you need to know,
Just listening to my voice
I'll guide you through.
So I want you just to imagine,
Let things come to mind that maybe take up space for
you in your life,
In your head.
So maybe things to do with your family,
Brothers,
Sisters,
Mum,
Dad,
Uncles,
Aunts,
Cousins.
Take all of those relationships that you have and just empty them out,
Just let them go.
Just for now,
In this moment you're going to leave them outside,
Let them float off,
Drift away,
Or put them in a box.
You can always pick them up later after we've done this meditation.
Take all your family relationships and just put them to the side,
And you just be here
now.
I want you to take your job,
Your career,
Anything you do for work,
Take all of that
and do the same,
Just empty,
Empty it all out,
Put it in a box,
Let it float off,
Drift
away.
You can have it back later if you so choose.
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
Emptying it all out,
Relationships,
Work,
Just for now.
Just you here,
You and I here,
And just noticing the space opening up now.
Then take any plans you might have,
Any holidays,
Any plans with friends,
Any events you have
coming up,
Any dentist appointments,
Doctors,
People you need to meet,
Things you need to
do,
Just empty it all out,
Just let it all go,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty it all
out,
Put it to the side,
Let it drift off,
Blow it away.
So it's just you here.
Now any jobs that you might have to do,
A job list,
Things you might have to do today
or tomorrow,
Maybe you see a list or you have the idea of some of the things that you're
going to do and just empty it all out,
All gone,
Let it float off,
Drift away,
Put it
in that box,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
You're just emptying yourself out so there's more
space inside,
More space inside you for awareness,
For emptiness,
For presence,
And just starting
to notice the space opening up,
What can you notice now that wasn't there before?
Maybe a quiet,
Maybe the mind is feeling more at rest,
More calm,
Maybe the body is
just more relaxed now,
Not doing anything,
Just noticing what's happening right now.
Now taking anyone that you have a responsibility for,
Maybe a pet,
Pets,
Other people,
Any
financial commitments you might have,
Mortgages,
Payments,
Any responsibilities you might have,
Any loans,
Just take all of those and just put them in that box for now,
Or let them
drift float away,
Blow them away,
Just emptying everything out of you,
Letting it all go so
that all that's left is more spaciousness,
More emptiness,
More awareness,
And just starting
to notice your body and your mind,
How are you aware now,
If you are,
Of that awareness,
That presence,
That has no name,
Has no age,
Has no responsibilities,
Has nowhere to be,
Nowhere to go,
Nothing to do,
It's just there,
Just watching,
Just aware,
Maybe a smile comes
across your space and you don't even know why,
It just feels good to be silent,
To have that space,
And take any other thoughts you might have,
Any thoughts right now and just put them in that box,
Put them away,
Just empty yourself out,
Let them drift off,
Float away,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
All gone,
And just being present with yourself now,
The awareness,
Breathing,
Body relaxed,
Maybe noticing the sounds around you,
Nothing to do,
Nothing to think,
Nothing to control,
Just being here now,
Now I want you to take your name,
Whatever your name is,
My name's Rich,
So take your name and just let that go,
Empty that out,
You no longer need your name,
Put it in the box,
Let it float away,
Just for now,
You can have it back later,
And everything that's tied to that name,
Any memories you have,
Growing up,
Parents,
Good memories,
Bad memories,
Any judgements,
Just empty it out,
All gone,
No name,
Just awareness,
Nothing more,
And take your age,
Whatever age you are,
Really it's whatever age your body is,
You're not your age,
You're not your name,
Just letting go of the age,
And all the identifications,
All the thoughts that are associated with your age,
Your biological age,
Almost imagining you've just forgotten your age and your name,
And there's just this awareness,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty,
Empty it all out,
You don't need any of it right now,
You're just being here,
Experiencing more awareness,
And enjoying it,
Breathing it in,
Just noticing the body sensations,
That's all that's happening,
The body,
Not your body,
Just noticing the sounds around you,
And can you notice if the awareness is growing,
There's a presence within you that doesn't have a name,
Or ask yourself does it have a name,
Or is it just a web,
Does this awareness that you're noticing have an age,
Or is it just is,
Does it have a form,
Or is it formless,
You can't quite find the edges of it,
But you're just aware of it,
And not trying to answer these with your intellect,
But instead with an experience,
Just shining a light on it and seeing what you experience now to be true,
You don't have to agree with me,
Just find out for yourself,
Everything empty,
Everything gone,
Just you here now,
I'm going to leave you for a few moments now,
30 seconds just to be with that awareness,
And if your mind drifts off to any thoughts,
Any events,
Any things,
Just empty it out,
Let it go and come back to your body,
To your breath,
And just notice the awareness,
That which is away,
And so bringing with you,
Soon when you open your eyes,
Just this experience of awareness,
That there is something,
There is a blue sky that's always there,
That's always been there,
And will always be there moving forwards,
Regardless of if you change your name,
If you change your,
You know as you get older,
Not change your age,
As you get older,
It will always be there,
No matter whether your life changes,
The context changes,
You have children,
You get married,
You get divorced,
You change your job,
There's always going to be that awareness,
That presence inside of you,
That consciousness,
And if ever you're having a challenging day,
You can just bring yourself back to that,
That peace,
That inner peace inside,
