This grounding meditation can be completed anywhere that you have space and time to honor yourself.
But it might be very helpful,
If it's accessible to you,
To be outside,
Connected with the earth,
Through the grass,
Or anything else that you might have available to you.
You might find yourself seated for this practice,
Or standing or even out for a gentle walk.
Wherever you are,
You might take a few moments here to orient to your environment.
You might choose to do that by simply allowing your eyes to wander around your space,
Wherever they would like to go.
Or you might cue in to sounds.
Not only my voice,
But other sounds that might be present around you,
And noticing the ones that are near and the ones that are far.
Perhaps you'd like to orient with a focus on the body.
Noticing how the surface beneath you receives your body weight,
Or noticing the feeling of your clothing on your body.
Perhaps it's just making note of the temperature against your skin.
However it feels best,
Give yourself a moment to orient to the here,
And arrive right now.
And if you haven't already,
I invite you at this time to turn your attention to your body.
You might dip a toe in here by noticing your breath,
Or your body position.
But as you're ready,
If you're not there just yet,
You're invited to call your attention to the feeling of your body being received by the surface beneath it.
That might be a chair,
Or the floor,
Or the ground,
Or a bed.
Wherever you rest,
Notice how it holds you.
You might have some sense here of the firmness or softness of this surface.
You might have a sense of how wide your body can be and spread out on this surface.
Whatever you notice,
Find security in how this object holds you.
Notice any strength that you can in its structure and the stability it offers you from underneath.
If your body is resting on something that is not the ground,
Perhaps you notice the surface beneath that object.
The building upon which the chair rests that holds your body.
The ground that holds the building that holds the chair that holds your body.
Notice how many layers you can get through until you find earth,
That ultimate rock of support.
And for a moment,
We'll reorganize our focus back up to the body and the places on your body that feel most connected to the earth right now.
And depending on your body position,
That might be your seat,
Or your feet,
Or your back.
If it suits,
You might begin to imagine roots,
Like the roots of a tree,
Emerging from your body and traveling down past each of those layers of stability.
Until they find earth.
Driving down into the earth,
These roots stabilize you as the roots of a tree stabilize it.
You might be able to tap into a sense of steadiness.
You might find yourself able to tap in as you notice these roots driving farther and farther towards the center of the earth.
A sense of energy,
Of power,
Perhaps even heat,
As the layers of the earth act upon these roots.
And begin to send signals up those roots to your body and your soul.
As with all plant life,
Of course,
Roots not only provide stability down into the ground,
But from earth they pull nutrients.
They pull vitamins and minerals and moisture and all of the components that help them grow and flourish.
Notice your roots engaged in the same.
Offering you a grounding,
Stable presence while pulling from the ground a nurturing,
A sense of life.
That can invigorate you and give you strength to carry on each day.
If it helps,
You can imagine these roots connected to your feet and feel this earthly life force coming up through those roots and entering into the feet.
Growing into the legs and the hips,
Up through the torso and out the arms,
Into the hands.
And then back to the shoulders,
Continuing to feel this expansion and this enlivening as informed by the earth's energy,
Growing up into your shoulders and your neck.
And up through your face and the back of the head,
Reaching all the way up to the crown,
The crown of the head.
This place where,
When seated or standing upright,
Is the closest part of us to worlds beyond.
Drawing our attention to those worlds for a moment,
Whatever sense of something bigger than yourself that you have,
Be it the rotation of the planets,
Other dimensional beings,
A heavenly spiritual force.
Tapping in here to the mightiness and the gravitas of that force,
Energies that are beyond our control but certainly ones that inform how we navigate through our life.
Energies that we can pull inspiration from and that can help us find a sense of connection to the universe,
To our community,
And even ourself.
Sitting here with the wisdom of the planets and the solar system and the universe and feeling that trickling down,
Connecting to us from the crown of the head.
Think of the crown as a portal from where this vast wisdom can enter our body,
Our mind,
And our soul.
Trickling down through the crown of the head,
Into the mind,
And through the rest of the face and the neck.
And with this image,
You might find yourself noticing a place where earthly energy and heavenly wisdom meet.
Meet deep inside you.
Perhaps this is right around the heart center or the diaphragm.
Notice anywhere in your body where you can find that coming together of stability from below and inspiration from above.
Noticing where you can find that coming together of strength from below and inspiration from above.
Connection and wisdom.
Perhaps you are able to tap into the knowledge that you are always supported from below and carried from above.
You are never alone.
You have been gifted with a strength,
Not only within but from all sides,
Encouraging you to move forward.
To be strong in your conviction and to honor yourself organically,
Spiritually,
Intellectually.
You are part of something grand and the forces that hold that grandness together are so happy to have you here.
I hope that you are able to carry this energy into the rest of your day.
I am so grateful for your support and your presence.
Thank you for meditating with me today.
Namaste.
