This meditation creates space for the calm, confident clarity that feeling settle brings. It offers metaphors of a glitter jar and hour glass to help imagine your swirling thoughts settling as you come down from your head and into your body so you can be intentional about how you want to be as you go a bout your to-dos. Settle in, soften, and enjoy! Meditation by Rachel Gilbertson, Art of Presence Instrumental Music: "Deep Relaxation" Kevin MacLeod Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License

This is a meditation to help you settle in with the intention of finding calm,

Confident clarity.

And so in it we use two metaphors.

One is a jar of water and glitter and if you were to shake up that glitter jar it would have lots of sparkly swirling thoughts,

Ideas,

And to-dos which is how we often live our lives.

Or another way you might picture it is an hourglass that has been tipped upside down where the sands of awareness are trapped in your head.

When we say we're stuck in our head I often use this as an image to help release those sands and start to settle in.

And so take whichever metaphor works best for you and begin by looking at your space and see if there's anything you might do or adjustments you might make to help you settle in.

Anything you might do to invite more ease and comfort.

So as we begin you may notice that like me you too are often stuck in your head and you feel heaviness in your mind,

Tightness in your throat,

And tension in your shoulders.

You might begin by relaxing your forehead,

Softening your gaze or shutting your eyes,

Relaxing and releasing your jaw.

And if you notice any tension in your throat you could try audibly exhaling with a sigh as you exhale to invite more ease.

If you notice any tension in your neck and shoulders you might do a few gentle neck rolls side to side or add in some shoulder rolls at your own pace.

You could even add a little neck and shoulder massage,

Whatever feels good to you.

You might notice how these shifts create space to sit up a little bit taller as your heart floats up and your shoulders fall back.

This creates some more space for you to take a deeper breath.

As you do so you might notice your belly being clenched.

If so,

Invite some softness and ease here.

Allowing the breath to come in more fully as you simply notice the rise and fall of your chest and belly as you breathe.

Imagining that glitter or the sands of awareness sifting through and settling into your seat.

Rest here knowing that they are supporting you and tethering you to ease.

Letting them sift through and settle into your hips,

Legs,

And feet.

Offering a sense of grounding stability.

Now I invite you to imagine your whole body bringing that image to mind of a glitter jar or an hourglass.

Just noticing the effect of settling by taking a pause.

There's space for being,

Feeling,

And breathing.

Settling creates space for clarity.

Taking this time helps you to be intentional about how you want to be as you go about your to-do's.

So I invite you to take one more full breath here.

Add in any gentle movement or stretches that feel good to you.

When you're ready,

Blinking open your eyes.

Wishing you that calm,

Confident clarity.

That feeling settled brings as you go about your day.
