Meditation for Umoja.

Umoja is celebrated on the first day of Kwanzaa,

Which is December 26.

Umoja means unity.

It's a call for us to strive and maintain harmony within our family,

Communities,

And nation.

It reminds us that we are interconnected and stronger together.

So let's start with a simple visualization.

Take a moment to just find your seat,

Neck with the ground beneath you,

And then gently begin to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

In through your nose and out through your mouth.

Breathe in through your nose,

This time fully releasing all feelings of division.

Inhale feelings of togetherness and then exhale any feelings of division.

We're connecting with the spirit of unity.

So I invite you to imagine a lush forest.

Each tree in this forest represents an individual.

An individual that is essential to our family,

Our communities,

And our nation.

Each tree stands separate,

Yet beneath the ground their roots are connected.

Connect with these roots.

This symbolizes the shared strength of our community.

I'm going to read some affirmations that resonate with the spirit of Umoja.

Feel free to repeat them or just allow the energy of my voice to connect with you.

I am one with my family and community.

Unity flows through me and connects us all.

I nurture relationships that bring us closer.

Together we are stronger and unbreakable.

My actions today build harmony and understanding.

As a reflection,

Take a moment to recall when you felt deeply connected to a group.

Reflect on how you contributed to that unity and how you can strengthen it today.

Thank you and happy Kwanzaa.
