Welcome to this meditation for Nia which means purpose.
Nia is celebrated on the fifth day of Kwanzaa,
December 30th.
Nia means purpose.
It calls on us to make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community to restore our people to their traditional greatness.
Now let's take a moment to meditate on the principle of Nia.
So let's go ahead and close our eyes,
Find yourself in a comfortable position,
Being mindful of your posture.
You want to sit with your head over your heart,
Heart over your pelvis,
Roll your shoulders back,
Drop your shoulders away from your ears,
And just gently relax and sink into your posture.
If it feels good to you,
Feel free to put your hand on your heart space and with each breath feel a deep connection to your purpose.
We're going to inhale our purpose.
We're going to exhale all thoughts of doubt or fear.
We're going to inhale connecting to purpose and then exhale releasing doubt and fears.
One last time,
Inhale connecting to purpose and then finally exhale releasing any doubt or fear.
Now imagine a glowing path ahead of you.
This path represents your life's purpose.
Along the side of this path you can see some markers.
These markers note amazing milestones that have led you to this exact moment in your life.
Glance at the milestones.
Resonate with how they make you feel.
You did it.
You are still doing it and you're doing a good job.
So let's connect to some affirmations.
I am guided by a clear purpose.
Each step I take aligns with my values and goals.
My actions contribute to the betterment of my community.
I am proud of the legacy I am creating.
I find meaning and joy in my journey.
And lastly as we end today's practice ask yourself what drives me?
How can I take one meaningful step towards fulfilling my purpose today?
Happy Kwanzaa.
