Hello and welcome.

I am Nicola Wiggins.

I am an EFT practitioner and an empowerment coach.

I also host women's empowerment retreats and divine empowerment retreats.

But today I really wanted to share a little bit about Pray and Regulate,

Which is the method that I am primarily working with,

And I'm going to be releasing Sunday devotionals once a week on Insight Timer in this format.

So what I really wanted to do before I started doing that was kind of explain what it is,

Let you know how it came to be,

And explain why I feel this is needed more than ever.

So Pray and Regulate is a gentle,

Trauma-aware approach that blends emotional freedom techniques,

Somatic regulation,

Meditation and prayer.

Usually EFT,

Somatic regulation,

Reflection,

Journal prompts and prayer,

Any sort of combination of those really,

But it's always a combination of those things.

And its purpose is to help you come back to yourself,

To regulate your nervous system and to reconnect with what matters most,

Whether that's presence,

Love,

Clarity,

Or hopefully a connection to God.

So prayer is the foundational part of this practice.

However,

Who and what you pray to is entirely up to you.

I will be personally using the word God,

But you can replace this with whatever word feels right.

And just simply know that this is a God of your own understanding,

Whatever your understanding of that is,

Whatever that is.

I'm not here to tell you what that should or shouldn't be.

This practice is just to meet you where you are and to cultivate that connection to something greater than something bigger than us.

And I just really believe that the way the world is at the moment,

We all need some divine empowerment,

You know,

Humanity is at a crisis point in many ways.

And I really do believe that the antidote to that in a lot of ways is divine connection.

So the idea of Pray and Regulate came from my own journey.

You know,

I'm over eight years in addiction recovery,

And I've done a lot of personal growth in that time.

I've done a lot of,

A lot of self development,

A lot of work.

But actually,

No matter how much work I did on myself,

No matter how much I prayed as part of that process,

And I'm not knocking that process at all,

That process saved my life,

My recovery process.

What I also did notice though is that my nervous system stayed anxious,

That I still felt panicky in my body,

That my mind was still on overdrive and overthinking.

And I realised that I had to regulate my nervous system alongside these other tools,

Alongside the prayer,

Alongside the spirituality for those things to fully work.

You know,

Why are our nervous systems dysregulated?

Because we hold a lot of trauma in our bodies,

Whether that's,

You know,

Stuff that didn't happen to you,

Whether it's stuff that did happen to you,

Whether you identified with the word trauma or not,

It doesn't really matter.

But your nervous system is kind of like a present day tapestry of everything that you've ever been through.

And a lot of things that we've been through don't necessarily heal on their own.

They need releasing,

They need regulating,

They need,

We need to do something somatically,

So something with the body to help release that stuff.

And I can go into that in a lot more detail another time.

The idea for this little talk was really just to explain what prayer and regulate is with a view to it hopefully helping you the way that it's helped me and the way that it's helped many of my clients too and the women that I work with.

You know,

What I really believe we all need at the moment is something real,

Embodied,

Practical and deeply restorative.

You know,

A way to come home to ourselves,

The way to connect to something greater than,

But also a way to calm our nervous systems in the process.

So the two main loves alongside prayer are EFT,

Emotional freedom techniques,

Which most people know as tapping.

It involves tapping on acupressure points on the face and on the body.

Primarily this resets the body's energetic system.

But what we now also know through modern day science is that it regulates the nervous system.

It's been proven to reduce cortisol in the body,

Which is the stress hormone.

It's been proven to access the amygdala,

Which is like the fear response centre in the brain,

Which is mind blowing if you ask me.

So we get to regulate the nervous system kind of from the inside out.

And I've also found through my yoga teacher training and yoga practice,

Which is kind of the smallest part of my practice these days,

That yoga nidra,

I.

E.

Yogic sleep,

Is also an exceptional practice for regulating the nervous system.

So pray and regulate primarily is prayer,

EFT,

Somatic safety tools and like journaling or reflection prompts.

And then I've also got kind of prayer and yoga nidra as well.

And that's what you'll find here on my Insight Timer channel.

And I noticed that by combining these tools with prayer,

It created a practice that was simple,

Gentle,

But also profoundly effective.

And that's how pray and regulate was born.

You know,

It was born through my own experimentation,

My own need,

My own experience,

And then sharing that with women that I know.

You know,

And the whole process really is about releasing,

Regulating and allowing us to rise in a way that's personal,

Adaptable and accessible to anyone.

I've personally found this practice transformative.

It's not about doing anything perfectly or forcing change.

If anything,

It's felt like doing less.

It's helped me learn to listen to my body,

To notice my emotions,

But also reconnect through prayer,

Tapping and presence in a way that just feels really natural and restorative.

And each time I've used this method,

It just reminds me that actually real transformation,

Real empowerment can come from presence,

Gentleness and connection,

Not necessarily from pressure and doing more effort.

So yeah,

So the pray and regulate method essentially is built through,

As I've just said,

Release,

Regulate and rise.

So expect lots more of that in the stuff that I do.

Life is moving fast.

I don't know about anybody else,

But it is flying by for me.

And,

You know,

We can carry a lot of stress or patterns or emotional weight that can pull us away from ourselves and from our connection to that power greater than.

Pray and regulate offers you a way to pause,

To come home to your body,

Come home to yourself,

To step into presence and connection with calm and clarity.

My hope is that pray and regulate helps you fully arrive in your mind,

Your body,

Your heart,

Your spirit,

That it lifts you to a place that you need to be lifted to,

But also at the same time with your feet firmly planted on the ground.

So yeah,
