Welcome to the meditation on communication with ourselves and others in sobriety.
My name is Alex and I'm going to guide you today in a meditation that will help you uncover how to communicate with yourself and others better.
Communication is so important.
We have to be clear with our ideas and our constructs,
And then present them clearly.
But if we're not aware of what those are,
We can't present them clearly.
So today's meditation will help you discover that.
So welcome to this moment of reflection and renewal.
You've come so far,
And now it's time to deepen your relationship with yourself.
So that you can begin building deeper relationships with others.
So find a comfortable position,
Sit or lie down.
Let your hands rest gently,
And close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Hold it,
And release slowly through your mouth.
Let's do this one more time.
Inhale deeply,
Hold,
And exhale completely.
Let your body soften.
Let your thoughts quiet.
You are safe.
You are supported,
And you are allowed to pause.
This week we explore communication,
But not just with others.
We begin where all communication begins,
Within.
So ask yourself gently,
How do I speak to myself when no one's listening?
How do I speak to myself when no one's listening?
What tone do you use?
What words come naturally?
Do you offer yourself compassion or criticism?
There is no judgment here,
Only awareness.
Now place one hand over your heart,
And one hand on your belly.
Feel the rise and fall with each breath.
You are here,
You are listening,
And you are learning to speak kindly to yourself.
Begin to whisper or silently repeat the following.
I am learning to speak to myself with love.
I am learning to speak to myself with love.
I am learning to speak with myself with love.
I listen to my needs.
I listen to my needs.
I listen to my needs.
My truth matters.
My truth matters.
My truth matters.
I deserve my own kindness.
I deserve my own kindness.
I deserve my own kindness.
Let these words become your internal dialogue.
Imagine now that you're writing to yourself.
Journaling a note of encouragement,
Forgiveness,
Or love.
What do you need to hear right now?
What truth have you been avoiding or suppressing?
Picture your pen on the page,
Writing gently.
Dear me,
I'm proud of you.
You've been trying so hard.
I forgive you for what you didn't know.
I believe in who you are becoming.
Let those words land and let them be real.
Now shift your awareness outward.
Bring to mind someone you love or someone you want to repair communication with.
See them in front of you.
Breathe in.
And as you exhale,
Silently say,
I see you.
I hear you.
I respect you.
Inhale.
Exhale.
And on the exhale,
Repeat,
I see you.
I hear you.
I respect you.
Repeat after me.
I will speak clearly with honesty and care.
I will speak clearly with honesty and care.
I will listen more than I speak.
I will express myself from love,
Not fear.
I will express myself from love,
Not fear.
I will express myself from love,
Not fear.
Let this become your new style of communication.
Truthful,
Boundaried,
Kind.
You don't need to say everything all at once.
You only need to say what's real,
At the right time,
And in the right way.
You are learning to be a safe place for yourself,
So that you can become a safe space for others.
And it all begins here.
So let's seal this meditation with a few affirmations.
I speak to myself with love.
I express myself with clarity.
I communicate with compassion.
I honor my truth and listen for the truth of others.
Begin to bring your awareness back.
Wiggle your fingers,
Roll your shoulders,
Breathe in deeply,
And exhale with gratitude.
When you're ready,
Open up your eyes.
Carry this intention with you today to listen without judgment,
To speak without fear,
To build bridges between your heart and the hearts of others.
You're not just getting sober.
You're learning to reconnect to yourself,
To your people,
And to the world,
One honest word at a time.
Namaste.
