Many of us move through the day on empty without even noticing it. In this session, Eve Lewis offers a pause long enough for your system to catch up with you. Instead of treating rest as something you have to earn, you’ll explore what it feels like to stop, breathe, and let your body settle without apology. This is a space to reconnect with your own capacity, not by doing more, but by easing your grip - just for today. You’ll leave with an intention to guide your day: Today, I’ll choose rest instead of pushing through.

Welcome to day 14 of Insight Timers intention setting challenge.

Setting an intention is making a decision about who you want to be and how you choose to show up.

Over time,

Those choices become change.

Let's begin.

Hello,

It's Eve here.

Welcome to Insight Timers intention setting challenge.

Today we're exploring something that many of us need,

Yet often feel guilty for taking rest.

Rest isn't a luxury.

It's not something you earn only when everything else is done.

Because let's face it,

There is always something to do.

Rest is a basic human need.

It allows your body to heal,

Your mind to settle and your heart to soften back into balance.

So often we tell ourselves we should keep going,

Even when we're tired,

Overwhelmed or stretched too thin.

Just like we take care of others,

We also need to take care of ourselves.

And choosing rest is a small,

Powerful act of kindness.

It's a way of saying,

I'm allowed to pause.

I'm allowed to care for myself.

So I invite you to set an intention of rest.

Something like,

Today I'll choose rest instead of pushing through.

Or you can use your own words,

Whatever feels true to you.

So let's take a moment now to put that into practice.

Settle into a comfortable position,

Either sitting down or lying down.

Closing your eyes,

Resting your gaze and softening your jaw and relaxing your shoulders as best you can.

And to help settle the mind and body,

I invite you to take a couple of slower,

Deeper breaths.

Breathing in through the nose and gently exhaling through the mouth.

This might be the first time you're truly pausing and resting today.

Notice what it feels like to give yourself permission to pause,

Permission to rest.

Feel the sensation of your body being supported and the gentle rhythm of your breathing.

And it's okay if your mind is busy.

That's normal,

Especially if you have a lot going on.

But right now,

See if you can bring your attention back to the body.

Back to following the gentle sensation of your breathing.

And I invite you to place a hand on the center of your body and gently repeat your intention.

Today,

I'll choose rest instead of pushing through.

Breathing,

Pausing,

Resting.

Then very slowly bringing a little movement into the body,

Maybe wiggling your fingers and toes.

Gently opening your eyes or widening your gaze.

And it's okay if you feel sleepy.

Residual tiredness can often surface when we pause and truly allow the mind and body to rest.

And as you go through your day today,

See if you can notice the moments when you feel yourself rushing or overriding what you truly need.

See if you can offer yourself even a tiny moment of rest.

A breath,

A stretch,

A pause instead of pushing past your limits.

And bringing your intention to mind as you go throughout your day.

Today,

I'll choose rest instead of pushing through.

On the next screens,

You'll be able to set this intention or your own version of it on your Insight Timer home screen.

This simple act of seeing your intention reflected back throughout the day is enough to cultivate change.

Thank you for practicing with me and good luck with the rest of the challenge.

So much appreciation for your tender words of support and encouragement. They were helpful in that I am on point as I rested and returned to sleep. 🛌 💤 💜
