Moms and Dads.
You have been doing a lot lately.
You are the glue.
That holds the whole world together.
Responsible for little lives and big dreams.
Dealing with the demands of parenthood.
It is all so relentless.
But you are doing an amazing job.
And if you are feeling overwhelmed for any reason right now,
That is understandable.
I'm going to help you calm your nervous system and you will feel better very soon.
Find a space where you can sit comfortably or lie down just for a short while.
Somewhere you won't be disturbed.
Close your eyes.
And we're going to count together.
Breathing in for six.
And out for eight.
Let's breathe in 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
And out 2345678.
And again in 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
And out 2,
3,
4,
5,
6,
7,
8.
Letting any outside noise fade away now and breathing in two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
And out 2,
3,
4,
5,
6,
7,
8.
Knowing that in this moment there is nothing for you to be doing other than this.
Breathing in 2,
3,
4,
5,
6,
And out 2345678.
And lowering those shoulders now,
Breathe in 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Hold.
And out 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Letting your breath return to a rhythm that is comfortable for you now.
Just enjoy this moment.
A moment of nothing.
But you and your calm mind.
Imagine that you are standing outside.
In the snow.
The landscape around you.
As far as the eye can see.
Is coated in a blanket of white.
Tiny snowflakes are drifting downwards,
Kissing your thick winter coat.
Gathering on top of your red woolly hat.
And hiding in the spaces between the fingers of your gloves.
Before melting away.
You are cozy.
And warm.
With the exception of your nose,
Which is cold to the touch.
Do you remember the first time that you ever saw snow?
Maybe this is the first time.
How breathtaking.
It is.
No matter how ugly the world is underneath it.
The snow arrives and has the power to make everything beautiful.
Moms and dads.
To your children.
You are the snow.
The thing about snow is.
It comes in many different forms.
Every icicle unique.
With one job to do.
Protect the little seeds that lay in the soil.
Not yet ready to bloom.
Stay warm and safe.
Through the harshest winds.
And weather.
This is a thank you.
For every moment you have pushed through your own exhaustion.
To show your children the world is made from love and security.
You are doing so much better than you could ever know.
Give yourself grace.
Give yourself love.
Just as you love them.
And the snow.
Eventually melts away.
As those seeds grow and bloom.
Just as this magical time in your life.
Will be fleeting.
Taking another big breath in and out.
And out now.
Start bringing your awareness back into the room or space that you are in.
Wiggling your toes.
Your fingers and opening your eyes.
Here's what you need to hear today.
It's okay to not always love being a parent.
It doesn't make you any less of one.
