Hello and welcome to this guided sleep meditation.
We'll be bringing a mindful approach to falling asleep,
In which the focus isn't forcing ourselves to drift off,
But simply to rest.
Because when we prioritize rest,
We give our minds and our bodies a chance to wind down,
To feel at ease,
And sleep is often a natural byproduct of being at rest.
So when you're ready,
Just take a moment to notice you are lying here.
The body knows it is safe.
It knows it can rest now.
There is nothing more to be done.
The day is complete.
Feel the weight of the body on your bed.
The heaviness of your limbs.
Notice how the mattress is supporting you.
How the pillow cradles your head.
Let the body be carried and supported.
And your breath is moving on its own.
In and out.
Rising and falling.
You don't need to change it.
Just let it flow as it wishes.
And if thoughts appear,
Let them.
They will come and go on their own.
There's no need to follow them.
There's no need to push them away.
Just notice them passing.
See what happens when you don't interfere.
When you simply allow the body resting.
The mind softening.
The breath flowing.
And now listen to the quiet around you.
Even if there are sounds.
Perhaps a hum,
A creak.
The faint world outside.
They all belong to this quiet.
There is no disturbance.
Because everything is part of this stillness.
Notice how it feels to put down the day.
To let go of every story,
Every plan,
Every problem.
As if you were setting down a heavy bag.
You don't need to carry these things into sleep.
So leave them by the door of this moment.
Because here you are free.
And there's a secret to sleeping that not many people realize.
The secret is that sleep is a byproduct of rest.
Because when you are resting,
You're inviting sleep.
And rest is simple.
It's simply letting go of all control.
Trusting that gravity will support you as you soften your body.
Trusting that thoughts will come,
But they will go,
When you let go.
So let go.
You don't have to make sleep happen.
Sleep is not something you do.
It comes of its own accord.
Naturally.
Effortlessly.
So let the body sink a little deeper.
Feel the breath grow softer.
Thoughts become lighter,
Quieter.
As if the mind itself were falling asleep.
There is only this ease,
This stillness,
This gentle unwinding.
And in this ease,
Sleep comes naturally.
Without effort.
Without asking.
So rest here.
Knowing that there's nothing to chase.
Just be at rest.
Sleep well.
Good night.
