Underneath your thought-created reality is your life force,
What I call your well-of-being.
You are whole and okay,
No matter what you're feeling.
Welcome to this series of Reflection Tracks.
In this series,
I'll talk about habits and addictions in a different way,
To create space for insight and reflection for you,
So that you can see something new from within.
Believe me,
I understand how debilitating habits and addictions can be,
And I want you to know that there is a way through,
Because a quiet mind is your default state,
And your habits are an innocent way of helping you,
That you can let go of.
So make yourself a little more comfortable,
Leave everything behind,
Let go of expectations,
Let go of judgement,
There's nowhere to go,
Nowhere you need to be.
Allow yourself the gift of these few moments.
If you feel comfortable to do so,
Close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Let your breathing fall into a deep,
Rhythmic pattern.
There's nothing to attend to,
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to be.
Let's listen to the quote again.
Underneath your thought-created reality is your life force,
What I call your well of being.
You are whole and okay,
No matter what you're feeling.
Feel the words as they resonate within you,
Reaching the depths of your consciousness.
What does it mean to you,
How does it make you feel?
As you wonder about this,
Think about the life that courses within you.
What does it look like,
Feel like,
How does it manifest in your life?
Are you spending your days busy-minded and frustrated?
Allow yourself to explore those feelings without judgement or pressure.
Take a deep breath and let yourself sink into the experience of inner calm.
Where in your life do you see this quote to be true?
Where have you noticed that when you are at peace,
Your outer world,
Including your habits,
Disappears?
Let your mind wander through your experiences and memories.
Perhaps there was a time when a peaceful day led to a feeling of hope and freedom.
Reflect on these moments and allow their significance to unfold.
Now consider whether you are resistant to the idea.
Acknowledge your thoughts and feelings with kindness and curiosity.
But understanding resistance can be a powerful step towards transforming it when you are ready.
It's okay to feel uncertain or sceptical.
These feelings are natural and can lead to a deeper understanding and growth.
If it pleases you,
Take a few moments to journal about these reflections.
It's also valid to just relax and listen to the music.
Our aim is toward a quieter mind.
I'll give you a little bit of time to write or reflect.
Let me share a personal story to illustrate the meaning of this quote.
There was a time when I never thought that I was lovable.
I craved love.
I wanted to love and be loved.
But I didn't think that I was good enough.
I thought that everyone else was better than me.
Better lover,
Better mother,
Better friend.
Because of these feelings of insecurity,
These feelings that I believed to be true,
I had a habit of jealousy.
Now,
I didn't think it was a habit.
I thought it was the true me.
So when my partner sat by somebody else or talked to somebody else or put their arm around somebody else,
I would feel such a sense of desolation and loss.
Some part of me thought that they would leave me.
Some part of me thought that that other person,
Whoever they were,
Was somehow better,
More preferable,
Prettier,
More intelligent,
More interesting than me.
I thought I had to live with this feeling of jealousy.
I believed it was just part of me.
One day,
My partner told me they were going away.
The feeling of jealousy arose within me.
Feeling of hurt and loss and doubt.
The fight or flight mode kicked in.
I wanted to shout.
I wanted to scream.
I wanted to beg him not to go.
I wanted to accuse him.
All of these actions and behaviours were merely innocent ways of me trying to protect myself,
Even though I didn't know it at the time.
I'd been studying the idea that underneath my thought-created reality is a life force within me that cannot be broken or damaged.
I'd been playing with what is this thought-created reality.
And all of a sudden,
A new thought popped into my head.
The thought was,
I'm bored.
I'm bored with this response.
Now that might seem like quite a strange thing to think.
But it was a new thought.
And even though my feelings were the same,
Even though my body was tense,
Even though my whole system was prepped for fight or flight,
There was a feeling of peace that came over me.
The feeling of being able to let those insecure thoughts go.
I didn't consciously do it.
It just felt that way.
And I haven't felt that rage of jealousy ever since.
And that day was nine years ago.
I didn't have to do anything with it.
It happened because I had pointed my mind towards that we live in a thought-created reality and that my life force,
My well-being,
Is whole and complete and I'm okay no matter what I'm feeling.
Take some time to reflect on this story and see if your understanding of the quote has deepened or shifted.
Do you see its relevance now in a different light?
Would you consider how nurturing your inner world can pave the way for outer rest in your own life?
Imagine the possibilities if you were to prioritise your inner peace and how it could transform not just your habits,
But your overall well-being.
Please don't worry if you can't see anything new right now.
You've already opened your mind to new possibilities and insight will follow in time.
If you feel called to go deeper into this practice,
Consider exploring the playlist in my profile called Addictions and my course on Overcoming Habits and Addictions.
This course provides a deeper look at the nature of addiction and how you can create sustainable recovery and clarity.
Underneath your thought-created reality is your life force,
What I call your well-of-being.
You are whole and okay no matter what you're feeling.
Take a deep breath and as you exhale,
Feel the tranquility within you.
May you carry this sense of peace with you as you move forward in your day,
Knowing that your life force is never broken.
Lots of love.
