The microcosmic orbit.

This is the quintessential subtle energy circulation from Qigong meditation that vitalizes all the meridians and internal organs and serves as a bridge to cosmic consciousness and beyond.

The human energy system is a microcosm of the universal field,

The macrocosm,

Which arises from and within the formless,

Known in Qigong as wuji.

The focus of this meditation is on two primary meridians,

The dumai meridian,

Which runs from the perineum,

Up along the back of your spine,

Over the top of your head,

And down to the upper palate,

And the renmai meridian,

Which runs from the tip of the tongue,

Touching the upper palate,

Down the front center line of the body,

Returning to the perineum again.

This forms a powerful energy circuit.

We'll focus on specific points along these meridians and then breathe through these meridians in a circular flow.

You may feel some of these points and paths more than others,

Or not at all.

That's okay.

Simply guide your attention to these spots and use them as focal points for attention.

With consistent practice over time,

Energy sensations will awaken,

Tension will release,

And energy will flow more smoothly through these points and along these paths,

Facilitating greater health,

Well-being,

And a felt sense of spiritual connection and transcendent awareness.

I think you'll find this meditation is deeply soothing and relaxing while giving you a strong sense of vital energy,

And it serves as a wonderful bridge beyond the personal self to feel your connection with all of life and beyond.

So let's begin with our posture cues.

Find yourself a quiet,

Private environment,

And sit comfortably upright in a seat that puts your hips level with or slightly above your knees.

Sit far enough forward in your seat so your parinam is resting on the front edge of your seat,

And you feel some weight in your feet.

If you need back support,

You can sit back against a seat back.

Cup your hands,

Right hand resting in the left,

In your lap,

With the tips of your thumbs touching lightly.

Lightly close your eyes.

Take a moment to check in inside,

And notice how you feel.

If you could sum up your feeling in a word,

Phrase,

Or an image,

What would this be?

Consider your intention for your practice.

Why is this important to you?

Consider that your practice is not just for you,

That it extends out to all your loved ones,

To everyone you interact with,

And that through the whole collective consciousness and all that is.

Consider dedicating your practice to the well-being of all beings.

Now,

Focus down into the soles of your feet,

And feel the sensations of contact of the soles of your feet on the ground.

Allow your feet and toes to soften and relax,

As if they are melting down into the earth.

Feel the grounded presence of the earth up through the soles of your feet,

Up through your shins and calves,

Up through your knees,

Up through your toes,

Up through your heels,

Up through your toes,

Up through your heels,

Feel every cell in your whole body relaxed and smiling,

Radiating calm happiness.

And now focus into your lower abdomen,

The lower dantian,

And into a point about three finger widths below your navel,

Right in the center of your lower abdomen.

Imagine and feel this point as the center of a radiant sphere of energy,

The lower dantian sphere.

Imagine and feel this sphere is breathing,

So that as you inhale,

This sphere gently expands and fills up.

And as you exhale,

The sphere relaxes inward and the energy concentrates in a pearl of energy in the center of this sphere.

See if you can stay present in the whole cycle of your breathing.

And as you exhale,

Notice the moment you begin to breathe in.

Notice the moment you begin to breathe out.

Notice the moment you begin to breathe in.

Notice the moment you begin to breathe out.

Breathing in,

The lower dantian sphere expands and fills up.

And breathing out,

The energy concentrates in the center of the sphere,

In that pearl of energy.

Breathing in,

The energy expands from the center outwards in all directions.

And breathing out,

The energy concentrates in the center of the sphere.

Feel that your breathing is feeding the energy of this sphere.

So it glows warmer and brighter and feels alive and full of energy.

And now focus into the center of the sphere,

Into that pearl of energy concentrated here in the center.

And as you breathe in,

Draw that sphere of energy down to the perineum.

And as you breathe out,

Concentrate that energy,

That pearl of energy in the perineum,

In the hui yin point.

Give a few gentle squeezes at the perineum to activate this point.

And then relax.

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl of energy at the hui yin point,

The perineum.

As we move to different points in this circuit,

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl leaves a trail of light as it moves from point to point,

Lighting up this circuit.

Gently contract the perineum,

Breathe in and draw the pearl of energy up to the tip of your tailbone,

The wei lu point.

And as you breathe out,

Concentrate on feeling the pearl of energy at the tip of your tailbone,

The wei lu point.

Give a few gentle squeezes here to activate this point.

And relax.

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl of energy at the wei lu point,

The tip of your tailbone.

Now breathe in and draw the pearl of energy upward to the ming men point in the middle of your lower back,

Directly opposite your navel,

Between lumbar two and three.

Give a few gentle squeezes here to activate this point.

And relax.

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl of energy at the ming men point in your lower back.

Now breathe in and draw the glowing pearl from the ming men point,

Up through the spine,

Up between your shoulder blades,

To the base of your neck,

The c7 vertebrae,

The dots wei point.

Give a few gentle squeezes here to activate this point.

And relax.

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl of energy at the base of your neck,

The dots wei point.

Now breathe in and draw the pearl of energy up through the vertebrae in your neck,

To the point where your spine enters your skull,

The yu chen point,

The jade pillow point.

Give a few gentle squeezes here to activate this point.

And relax.

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl of energy at the yu chen point,

The base of your skull.

Now breathe in and draw the pearl of energy up the back of your skull to the top of your head,

To the crown point,

The bai wei point,

At the top of your head.

Give a few gentle squeezes here to activate this point.

And relax.

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl of energy at the bai wei point,

The top of your head.

Feel the tingling aliveness at this point.

Now follow the pearl as it flows down to the center of your forehead,

To the shang dan tien point,

Or upper dan tien point,

In the center of your forehead.

Give a few gentle squeezes here to activate this point.

And relax.

Imagine and feel the glowing pearl of energy at the upper dan tien point,

The center of the forehead.

Now follow the pearl as it flows down the bridge of your nose,

Down through the tip of your tongue,

Touching the roof of your mouth,

Down through the front of your throat,

And down to the center of your sternum,

The center of your chest,

To the zhong dan tien point,

The middle dan tien.

Now follow the pearl as it flows down the bridge of your nose,

Down through the tip of your tongue,

Touching the roof of your mouth,

Down through the front of your throat,

And down to the center of your sternum,

The middle dan tien.

Now follow the pearl as it flows down the bridge of your nose,

Down through the tip of your tongue,

Touching the roof of your mouth,

Down through the front of your throat,

And down to the center of your sternum,

The middle dan tien.

Now follow the pearl as it flows down the bridge of your nose,

Down through the tip of your tongue,

Touching the roof of your mouth,

Down through the front of your throat,
