Welcome,

I'm Jocelyn.

This is a short visualization and journaling prompt for sparking your joy.

When I think about life's joyful moments,

Gosh,

There's so many of them.

But often,

We spend a lot of our awareness and our energy on the things that are challenges,

On the problems,

On what's not going right.

And by simply shifting our awareness to joy,

We can raise our frequency.

So whether you're someone who journals once a week,

Twice a week,

Or someone who journals every day,

Join me in this short visualization and writing prompt around sparking your joy.

Writing is a beautiful way to connect back.

So this one's about sparking joy.

Close your eyes for a minute.

Bring your awareness inward.

Take a nice,

Deep breath through your nose.

Open your mouth and sigh it out.

Feel the vibration of your sound in your chest.

In the middle of your ribcage that houses your heart.

Your lungs.

And just for a moment,

Let's bring our awareness to all of the five senses.

With your eyes closed and your ears open,

Notice whatever sounds are in your space on this recording.

Open up your inner ears.

Allow the vibrations in without judgment.

Bring your awareness to your nose.

What aromas are present in your space?

And take another deep breath through your nose.

At the top,

Swallow.

And blow out the air through your lips.

What aromas are here for you today?

Bring your awareness to your mouth.

Are there any tastes lingering on your taste buds?

What is the environment in your mouth like?

Is it dry?

Is it moist?

With your eyes closed,

Your vision behind the veil of darkness,

Do you see anything?

Shadow?

Light?

Color?

Images?

Symbols?

Maybe even a memory replaying itself behind your eyes.

Bring your awareness to your skin.

How does your skin feel?

Maybe you have an area of your body that's cooler or warmer.

Maybe you can feel a prickling or a tingling or that beautiful sense of relaxation or even tightening.

What does your skin feel like?

And then bring your awareness to your heart.

Notice any emotions lingering here in the heart.

And if you find any specific emotion,

You can breathe into it.

Allow yourself to feel it.

Exhale out from it.

Begin to scan your awareness,

Your body,

Your memory for a time when you felt joyful.

It might have been when you were young,

A young child.

Or it might have been yesterday.

There's no right or wrong here.

The first memory of joy that comes up,

Go with that.

Invite that memory in.

Begin to breathe into that memory.

Breathe life into that memory.

I'm always fascinated by memories.

Because when we remember them,

Our body begins to create the reality.

Once you have this memory,

Allow yourself to move through all of your five senses within this memory.

What do you see?

Do you see it from the point of view of yourself or someone seeing you?

Maybe above or maybe eye level.

What do you hear in this memory?

Do you hear voices?

Sounds of nature?

The wind rushing past your ears?

Laughter?

Your own voice?

What do you hear?

Are there any aromas present in this memory of joy?

Take a deep breath.

What do you smell in this memory?

Are there any tastes present for this memory?

What does your mouth feel like in this memory?

And your body,

Your skin.

What does your skin and your body feel in this memory?

And you can even notice what's happening in your body while you bring this memory to the surface.

And bring your awareness to your heart.

What are you feeling?

Do you feel that joy?

What does it feel like?

What sensations are available to you in this memory?

You can go as minute in the details as you'd like.

You may pick one detail of this memory that captures your awareness.

And when you're ready,

Go ahead and pick up your pen and begin to write.

You might want to start with writing stream of consciousness.

Allowing your pen to move without stopping.

Knowing that it might not be logical what comes out.

And that is okay.

Just allow it.

Or you might want to start by listing the sensations that you felt while your eyes were closed.

You might want to recount the memory.

You can use any one of your senses to go deeper.

Know that any of your senses can be an anchor into this joy at any time.

So go ahead and write for about five minutes or longer.

You can go as long as you'd like.

It is beautiful to linger in joy.

You might even take some time to see if you could recreate pieces of this memory for yourself in your life today.

Maybe by telling someone else about this joyful memory.

Or maybe you invite others to recreate it with you.

Have fun writing.

Know you can go in any direction my friends.

See where this takes you.

I would encourage you to share your joyful moment or a piece of your joyful moment.

Let us share in each other's joy.

We share so much in each other's challenges.

But let's share in the joy of the human experience my friends.

Thank you so much for coming along with me today.

I can't wait to hear about all of your joyful moments.

Again,

I'm Jocelyn.

If you don't follow me,

Please do.

And if you enjoy writing,

I do have a creative writing course here on Insight Timer.

Thank you so much my friends.

Here's to a joyful rest of your day.

Namaste.
